Job description

Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

The primary responsibility of the Field Engineer is to perform checkout and verification of project sites while developing general controls and contracting skills. The role requires traveling directly to project sites and working predominantly on-site throughout the work week.

Responsibilities
  • Perform checkout and verification of project sites.
  • Conduct point-to-point checkout of all equipment on assigned jobs.
  • Complete a checkout book detailing point-to-point verification, including all physical points on the project.
  • Make detailed notes of locations of physical equipment.
  • Verify all hardware according to appropriate guidelines.
  • Note offsets, calibrations, issues, or failures in the checkout book.
  • Communicate daily with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Field Supervisors, or Senior Field Engineers assigned to the project.
  • Troubleshoot issues with any equipment on project sites.
  • Write service tickets for any issues outside the scope of the project.
  • Contact supervisors in the event of issues outside of skill set, and reach out to technical support if unresolved.
  • Create and maintain daily logs, noting equipment checkouts, problems, and interference issues from other contractors.
  • Understand the project scope, hours allotted, and review submittals, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
  • Identify potential change orders and communicate them to supervisors.
  • Maintain punctuality, appropriate dress, and vehicle upkeep according to company policy.
  • Follow up on phone calls and emails within 4 business hours.
  • Adhere to project and personal safety guidelines.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Hands-on experience with equipment through internships.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time locally within Illinois.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, air handlers, VAVs, FCUs, and UVs.
  • Career path opportunities include project management or sales, along with other growth opportunities.
