Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - Corrections
Location: Northern Nevada Correctional Center- Carson, Nevada
Hourly Rate: Highly Competitive Depending on Experience
Travel Reimbursements: Available based on home location
Position Overview
Reliable Health Care Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide high-quality, evidence-based medical care within a correctional health care environment. The APRN will deliver comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to adult inmates at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson Nevada
This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing essential medical services to an underserved population, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals in a secure setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, physical exams, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses within the scope of licensure.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with state regulations and facility policy.
  • Provide patient education regarding disease prevention, medication adherence, and overall wellness
  • Collaborate with correctional medical staff, nursing teams, and mental health professionals to ensure continuity of care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation consistent with clinical and facility standards
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and security procedures at all times.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and training programs
  • Perform emergency care and triage as necessary in alignment with facility protocols
  • Ensure compliance with NDOC and Reliable Health Care Services standards of care, confidentiality, and professional ethics
  • Participate in annual competency evaluations and maintain continuing education requirements to sustain licensure.
Qualifications
  • Current Nevada APRN license in good standing
  • Current DEA registration and Nevada Board of Pharmacy License
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an APRN or Nurse Practitioner, preferably in correctional, urgent care, primary care, or acute settings
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and high-security environment
  • Knowledge of correctional health standards, including NCCHC (National Commission on Correctional Health Care) or ACA (American Correctional Association) guidelines, preferred
  • Must be able to pass the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) background clearance and Reliable credentialing requirements
