We are seeking an experienced Senior Test and Evaluation Engineer (E4) to support a large support services contract with the Naval Sea Systems Command.
Position Description: You will provide support to the Program and Deputy Program Manager of a 200 person contractor team that includes subcontractor personnel.
Work location and telework: The government work location is the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Contractors will be required to work at the Navy Yard and in nearby office locations up to 5 days a week. Teleworking may be possible with the customers' approval but will need to evolve as the work relationships evolve.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between perceived social needs and commercial applications. Engineers design products, machinery, implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials, such as petroleum and natural gas, develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology. Engineers analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on the people using them.
In addition to design and development, many engineers work in testing, production, or maintenance by supervising production in factories, determining the causes of breakdowns, and the testing of manufactured products to maintain quality. They also estimate the time and cost to complete projects.
Test and evaluation (T&E) engineers design, execute, and analyze tests to ensure products-ranging from software to aerospace systems-meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. They create test plans, manage configuration, analyze data, and report findings to support design improvements and validation
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
โ€ข Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
โ€ข Education and experience: There are three different ways to be qualified for this position:
1. A high school degree, or a GED, and twenty (20) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser system or subsystem test and evaluation experience.
2. A bachelor's degree and fifteen (15) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser system or subsystem test and evaluation experience.
3. A master's degree and ten (10) years of relevant Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser system or subsystem test and evaluation experience.
Preferred / Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
โ€ข ActiveSecret Clearance
โ€ข Project Management Professional (PMP)
โ€ข Experience:
o Demonstrated knowledge of Navy/DOD policy and guidance
o Demonstrated knowledge of M&S VV&A policy and guidance
o System/subsystem test and evaluation
o Test planning, test objective and test resource definition and post-test analysis
o DT/OT planning, range coordination and participation in land-based and at-sea testing
o Test plan and test procedure development and/or review
o Integration and testing with other elements
o Initial Navy operators training to support test objectives
โ€ข Specialized experience: No other specialized experience required
Travel Requirements:
โ€ข Travel should be infrequent but include occasion trips to support government efforts at East and West Coast naval centric areas like Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA.
