POSITION SUMMARY

The Saw Operator is responsible for cutting raw materials, including steel, aluminum, and other metals, to specified dimensions to support downstream manufacturing operations in a precision contract manufacturing environment. This role ensures material is accurately prepared, properly labeled, and staged for production in accordance with drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. The Saw Operator also supports material handling and organization activities to ensure efficient flow of materials throughout the facility.


ITAR REQUIREMENTS

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which restricts access to export-controlled information to U.S. persons. A U.S. person is generally defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or others specifically authorized under U.S. export regulations. General work authorization (e.g., work permit or EAD) or visa sponsorship does not meet ITAR requirements.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate saw equipment to cut raw materials to specified dimensions.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and cut lists to ensure accurate material preparation.
  • Inspect materials for defects or non-conformance prior to and after cutting.
  • Accurately measure and verify dimensions using standard measuring tools.
  • Label, organize, and stage cut materials for downstream production processes.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move raw and finished materials throughout the facility.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient material staging and storage area.
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance such as cleaning, blade changes, and routine inspections.
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure safe operation of equipment at all times.
  • Communicate material issues, shortages, or discrepancies to supervision or production staff.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to material flow, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Perform other duties and support other work areas, including maintenance, shipping/receiving, or others as assigned.
Requirements:

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and material handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, work instructions, and material specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented production environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience operating saw equipment or similar cutting tools preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, machining support, or material handling preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified required.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is on the production floor and involves regular exposure to active manufacturing areas.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and composite or steel-toe shoes, must be worn as required.
  • The work environment is a clean, climate-controlled facility with modern equipment and a safety-first culture. Ambient conditions include typical plant lighting and machinery operation.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk on level surfaces throughout the workday.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle tools, controls, and objects.
  • Reach with hands and arms, including above shoulder height and below the waist.
  • Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl as needed.
  • Talk and hear to communicate effectively.
  • Lift, slide, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs using proper techniques.
  • Comfortable working in small or confined spaces while following established safety protocols.
  • May be required to work at varying heights, including the use of ladders, platforms, or elevated work areas, while following established safety protocols.
