Job description

Mechanical Engineer (Long Term Project)

Location: Onsite 5 days a week in Ardmore, OK

Pay: $34/hr - $44/hr

Type: Long Term Contract Role

Are you a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys taking projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and startup? This is an opportunity to join a major manufacturing operation and play a key role in executing capital projects that directly impact plant productivity, quality, and operational performance. You will lead mechanical engineering activities, manage contractors, support equipment installations, and help drive successful project execution in a highly automated industrial environment.

Work Environment
  • Full-time onsite position in Ardmore, Oklahoma
  • Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week
  • Occasional weekend, holiday, and plant shutdown support required during major installations and startups
  • Travel typically averages up to 30%, though some projects may require additional travel
What You'll Do
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for capital equipment and facility projects
  • Support industrial equipment installation, machine relocation, decommissioning, reassembly, alignment, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Develop machine specifications, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings, schematics, and complete documentation packages
  • Create project budgets, cost estimates, and contractor bid packages
  • Manage equipment procurement, fabrication follow-up, factory acceptance testing, and incoming equipment inspections
  • Coordinate contractors, maintenance teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders during installations and startups
  • Develop safety documentation, risk assessments, operator training materials, and maintenance procedures
  • Support both brownfield and greenfield project implementations
  • Ensure projects comply with company standards and industry regulations
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support installations and commissioning activities
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education
  • 3+ years of engineering experience within industrial manufacturing, heavy industrial, or large commercial environments
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, and cross-functional project teams
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Equipment installation and commissioning
    • Machine relocation and startup activities
    • Mechanical systems troubleshooting
    • Industrial project execution
  • Knowledge of:
    • Pneumatics
    • Hydraulics
    • Piping and fittings
    • Industrial mechanical systems
  • Experience with mechanical design standards such as OSHA, ASME, ANSI, and ISO
  • Strong project planning, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Project)
Preferred Qualifications
  • AutoCAD or DraftSight 2D experience
  • Experience with lifting devices, cranes, jibs, end-effectors, and below-the-hook equipment
  • Knowledge of motor, gearbox, and drive system sizing and selection
  • Experience with mechanics of materials, stress analysis, and FEA
  • Previous project management or project leadership experience involving installation planning, scheduling, and risk assessment
