Job description

Job Function(s)

  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its Core Values.

  • Set up power tools, equipment and hoses for piping crew
  • Assists skilled Craftsman Pipefitters by performing essential tasks like transporting materials, cutting/threading pipes, cleaning work areas, and supporting the assembly and installation of piping systems for air, gas, water and other piping components.
  • Directed by a Qualify Craftsman Pipefitter to assist in bolt-up, grinding and seals to connect on piping systems.
  • Assist in cut, fit and fabricate all kinds of piping materials, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome and PVC pipes.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience
  • Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members.
  • Ability to Load, transport, organize, and unload pipes, fittings, tools, and equipment to the job site.
  • Ability to assist in cutring , fitingt and fabricate all kinds of pipe material.
  • Must be able to measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipes; drill holes; and clean/prepare surfaces for welding or joining.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, remove debris, and ensure a safe environment, eliminating trip hazards.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Hold pipes, position components, and provide general support during the layout, assembly, and installation of piping systems.
  • Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Will talk and hear to communicate.
  • Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and piping systems.
  • Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, piping and tools.
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms. Will work at heights up to 300' utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
