Structural Design Engineer

Long-Term Contract Opportunity

Per Diem Available for Qualified Out-of-State Candidates

We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer to support a major United States DOD Test Operations and Sustainment project in Tennessee. This position will be part of an integrated engineering team responsible for the design and construction of a new testing facility supporting critical national defense initiatives.

Responsibilities

โ€ข Serve as a Structural Design Engineer and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams

โ€ข Perform structural analysis, design calculations, and engineering evaluations for complex facilities and infrastructure projects

โ€ข Develop and review design criteria, specifications, calculations, and engineering documents

โ€ข Analyze and recommend solutions to complex structural engineering challenges

โ€ข Design and evaluate steel, concrete, foundation, and structural systems

โ€ข Coordinate technical issues with project management, vendors, clients, and other engineering disciplines

โ€ข Prepare and review project estimates, schedules, staffing forecasts, and progress reports

โ€ข Track and report material quantities, forecasts, and project metrics

โ€ข Support procurement and subcontract activities, including scope development, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews

โ€ข Provide construction support, including responses to RFIs and field design changes

โ€ข Execute work in accordance with project quality, scope, cost, and schedule requirements

โ€ข Maintain compliance with all site safety requirements, including PPE standards

Qualifications

โ€ข Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering

โ€ข Minimum 7 years of progressive structural engineering experience

โ€ข U.S. Citizenship required

โ€ข Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and site access credentials

โ€ข Strong experience performing structural calculations and engineering analysis

โ€ข Advanced knowledge of structural design and analysis software, including STAAD or STAAD.Pro

โ€ข Experience with wind and seismic loading analysis

โ€ข Experience with concrete, steel, and foundation design

โ€ข Strong communication and coordination skills within multidisciplinary project teams

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required

โ€ข Experience performing hand calculations and computer modeling for structural systems

โ€ข Practical construction or field engineering experience

โ€ข Experience leading engineering tasks on large capital projects

โ€ข EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project experience

โ€ข Experience supporting Department of Defense, Federal Government, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial projects

โ€ข Experience with project scheduling, progress reporting, forecasting, and project closeout activities
