Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help drive a major enterprise data transformation initiative. This role will play a critical part in building a modern, scalable data platform that enables the organization to own and manage its data ecosystem end-to-end.

As the company continues to modernize its technology landscape, you will help replace a legacy vendor-supported Guidewire data environment with a new in-house data solution built on Snowflake, Azure, and Databricks. This is an opportunity to influence architecture, establish engineering standards, and create a trusted foundation for enterprise reporting and analytics.

Working closely with business stakeholders, data leadership, and architecture teams, you will help design solutions that improve data accessibility, governance, integrity, and operational transparency across the organization.

Key Project Initiatives
  • Lead the design and development of a new enterprise data platform in Snowflake
  • Support the replacement of Guidewire DHIC with an internally managed data solution
  • Modernize data ingestion and transformation pipelines utilizing Azure and Databricks
  • Establish scalable data architecture and engineering standards
  • Improve enterprise reporting capabilities through trusted, audit-ready data
  • Drive data governance, quality, lineage, and integrity initiatives
  • Build processes that enable business users to easily access and consume critical data assets
  • Partner with technical and business teams to define optimal data structures, storage layers, and ingestion strategies
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize enterprise data solutions using Snowflake, Azure, SQL, and Databricks
  • Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Evaluate and recommend architectural approaches, tools, and technologies
  • Define best practices for data modeling, governance, and platform scalability
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting and data consumption requirements
  • Support data migration, integration, and modernization efforts
  • Ensure data solutions are reliable, secure, auditable, and performant
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a growing data engineering function
  • Translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree required
  • Extensive experience with SQL development and performance optimization
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
  • Proven experience building data solutions in Databricks
  • Deep expertise designing and implementing Snowflake-based data platforms
  • Experience architecting scalable enterprise data environments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership
  • Experience establishing data governance, integrity, and quality frameworks
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and modern data architecture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Property & Casualty Insurance industry experience
  • Guidewire ecosystem experience
  • Experience with Kafka
  • Experience with Apache Spark
  • Familiarity with large-scale data modernization initiatives
  • Experience working closely with enterprise architects and business leaders
