Job description

The Training Instructor is primarily responsible for the delivery of curriculum using lesson plans in order to instruct contract security personnel working at FPS locations.ย  The Training Instructor analyzes training statistical data, as a part of the training needs analysis process, to support training recommendations.ย The training conducted will include but not limited to:ย  Basic and Refresher Training, CPR/First Aid/AED training, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Baton, OC Spray and Firearms Instructions, National Weapons Detection.

Requirements: Acceptable certifications MUST be presented from the training topics below:

  • Basic and Refresher Training: Approved and Accredited Principles of Instruction course or similar training (e.g. NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC or military training course) certifying as an instructor.
  • Expandable Baton, OC Spray, Defensive Tactics and Handcuffing Training: Must be certified through an approved course of study as an instructor for these areas. (e.g. ASP, Monadnock, Police Academy state POST Academy, FLETC or military training course).
  • Firearms Training and Qualification: Must have completed and approved and accredited Firearms Instructor (Range Official) course (e.g. NRA, Police Academy, state POST Academy, FLETC or military training course) certifying as an instructor.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED: Must possess appropriate certifications to perform First Aid CPR/AED instructions. This certification must be as an instructor with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Must possess at least two years of demonstrated experience and knowledge of law enforcement or security methodologies.
  • Must have demonstrated instructor experience.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of a Protective Security Officer.
  • Must be able to develop various documents using Microsoft Office applications.
  • NWDTP: Must have current NWDTP instructor credentials.ย 

ย Education required:ย 

High School Diploma or GED.

Education Preferred:

Bachelor Degree in Homeland Security, Security Administration, Criminal Justice, or closely related field of study

Additional Requirements:

Pass a medical exam and drug screen

Be a United States Citizen

Read, Write, and Speak English coherently

Be shift flexible including nights and weekends
