Kforce's client, a growing, privately held services organization in Linthicum Heights, MD is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations and serve as a key member of the leadership team. This position offers the opportunity to play a strategic role in a stable, expanding business while partnering closely with executive leadership on financial and operational initiatives. Summary: The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, and process improvement initiatives. This individual will also provide leadership to a small accounting and administrative team while supporting business planning and organizational growth. This role is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys balancing strategic responsibilities with hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations. Duties Include: Lead all accounting and finance operations, including month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support business decisions Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations Manage sales tax, regulatory compliance, and other financial reporting requirements Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and operational initiatives Supervise and mentor accounting, payroll, and administrative staff Improve processes, internal controls, and reporting capabilities Support relationships with external accountants, auditors, insurance providers, and other business partners Participate in ERP evaluation, selection, and implementation efforts Ensure business continuity through cross-training and effective department management Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting operations Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Proven people leadership and team management skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Advanced Microsoft Excel skills The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
