This position will be with Rothfos, the leading supplier of commercial green coffee to roasters across North America. Founded in 1991, Rothfos brings more than three decades of experience to the green coffee market.

Job Purpose:

To support the buying and selling of green coffee on behalf of the company by contributing to effective trading operations and commercial execution. As a member of the trading team, you will assist in executing local trading and marketing strategies, logistics management, customer relationship management, and operational excellence, while building the knowledge and skills required to grow into a Trader role.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Participateonthe Strategy of the group, along with the deep analysis of the Supply/Demand and Market Risks.
    • Build relationships with suppliersatorigin and bring market intelligence totradingteam. Direct and indirect sourcing responsibility of specificorigins.
    • Manage physical long & shortpositionto ensure coffee is delivered on time and without any qualityissues.
    • Control risk position for the specific origins via daily reports andanticipateanypossible delaysorloss.
    • Control unships and sales match reports to support Inbound & outbound team by providing destinations and contractallocations.
    • Cupping daily with QC Manager to ensure the quality of pre-shipment and arrival samples arein accordance withthe agreed contract.
    • Develop new customers via tradecontacts, (by ways of "cold calling",attending attrade shows and other potential customer acquisitionstrategies).
    • Recurring check-ins on existing, dormant andprospectcustomers.
    • Enhance knowledge in Market Risks to support the managers to mitigate any relatedrisks.
    • Support managers with strategies byanalysingSupply/Demand and marketmovetooptimizethe gains and protect against any market move.
    • Enhance knowledge of Green Coffee Grading and Cupping to support QC Department and to efficiently manage any Quality rejections andclaims.
    • Manage the spot inventory and prepareofferinglist.
    • Prepare periodic market reports for clients andsupervisors.
    • Continuous monitoring of A/R ofcustomers.
    • Regular checks / follow-up with thelogisticsteam on shipments and deliveriesin due time. Empower logistic teams to avoid problems/ delays etc and offer support in resolutions.
    • Representcompanyat trade shows and conventions and organize meetings with suppliers andcustomers.
    • Identifyand evaluate competitive products, new markets, new product opportunities, andcompetitors.
    • Buy and Sell Green coffee in close communication and alignment with trading team and accordingly input contracts within 24 hours of the businessconfirmation.

    Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

    This position requires analytical and technical skills, an understanding of coffee quality, Futures/Hedge knowledge, communication skills in order to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.

    Qualifications & Training:

    • Bachelor's degree in international trade, supply chain, logistics, business administration, or finance management required.
    • 5+ years commercial experience in coffee preferred (with focus on green coffee, quality, sensory, grading, future/option trading).
    • Experience with commodities is preferred

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Basic understanding of commodity markets and futures trading is desirable; willingness to learn is essential.
    • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret market data.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP or trading systems is an advantage.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and multicultural teams.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, customer meetings, and industry events, as required.
    • Interest in developing knowledge of green coffee grading, cupping, quality evaluation, and market risk management through on-the-job training.
    • Foreign Language (Spanish) is a plus.
