Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, Nuts, the Nuts Trader will be primarily responsible for supporting procurement, trading and risk management of the Business to Business (B2B) edible nut portfolio including physical and financial instruments. Essential job functions include B2B procurement and sales, as well as position tracking for global ofi Private Label businesses. The successful candidate will possess strong relationship and negotiation skills required to earn and keep business, as well as manage quality claim mediation between suppliers and ofi entities. A high level of attention to detail and follow up to ensure strategy is executed properly will be vital in ensuring success in this role.
Position Responsibilities
  • Provide front-line leadership in the optimization of supplier portfolios within the procurement/trading team.
  • Responsible for strategy development, product trading, and risk management.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and handlers to ensure budgeted procurement volumes are met.
  • Develop and foster supplier retention through quality information sharing.
  • Act as the primary contact for market intelligence and dissemination/coordination with overseas private label facilities and global ofi leadership team.
  • Assist in staff development, including hiring support and associated staff training.
  • Ensure on time deliveries of raw commodities to global private label facilities.
  • Expand market presence within the industry by actively participating in industry forums.
  • Proactively interface with other trading support areas of the organization, including Trading Controls, Marketing, Structuring, Contracts, and Credit to grow the business.
  • Identify new opportunities for the book of business that will improve overall Business Unit (BU) profitability, including expansion of current supplier portfolio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Marketing, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Five (5) years of relevant experience working in food or agriculture industry will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Three (3) years of trading/procurement experience is required.
  • Experience with relevant Market and Industry Knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail is required.
  • Must be able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Advanced skills in deal negotiation is strongly preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of the fundamental supply/demand drivers of the commodity markets is required.
  • Ability to identify and interpret trends between different nut commodities is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong network of marketing and trading counterparties in required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including verbal and written, are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Excel, Outlook and Word, is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing workload to meet deadlines, while ensuring a high standard of quality is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, at times up to 25%.
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $108,000 - $144,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
