What is contract coaching?

Contract coaching refers to professional coaching services provided on a contract basis, rather than as a full-time employee. Contract coaches work with individuals or organizations to help clients set and achieve personal or professional goals, typically for a specified period or project. They often specialize in areas like executive coaching, career development, or performance improvement. This flexible arrangement allows organizations to access expert coaching without a long-term commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Coach, you need expertise in coaching methodologies, goal-setting, and performance evaluation, often supported by certifications such as ICF or similar credentials. Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms, coaching management software, and assessment tools is commonly required. Exceptional listening, motivational, and interpersonal skills help you build trust and effectively support client growth. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering impactful coaching that drives measurable results and client satisfaction.

How do contract coaches typically manage client relationships and expectations while working independently?

As a contract coach, you'll often juggle multiple clients with varying needs and goals, so clear communication and setting realistic expectations from the outset is essential. You'll likely be responsible for scheduling sessions, establishing boundaries, and providing regular progress updates to clients. Building trust and demonstrating measurable results is key to maintaining long-term relationships and securing repeat business. Since contract coaches often work independently, strong self-management and organizational skills are crucial for success.

Job description

As a thought-leader and best-in-class provider in education, wellness, youth development, and community-building, The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is one of the oldest and most essential non-profits serving in Atlanta. Today, we're looking for you to join us as we carry out our mission to positively impact lives and communities across the state.

At the Y, we're an association of like-minded people (staff, volunteers, and members), on the forefront of a movement to ensure that everyone -- especially children -- experience an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Contract Coach will assist in developing, organizing, and administering team practices and games for their designated sport. Instruct young boys and/or girls in the fundamentals of sports while promoting a positive attitude and good sportsmanship through coaching. This is a contract position. The Contract Coach will be required to sign a individual coaching contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation.
  • Assist with communication to participants and parents.
  • Enforce all reporting measurements, policies and documentation as required.
  • Attend necessary coaches and or parent meetings.
  • Must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols, and Member Services Guidelines and Non-Negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.

REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be 16 or older
  • Experience coaching and working with kids or experience playing the sport at a higher level
  • Must be energetic, positive, enthusiastic and exemplify YMCA ideals

Employment and Benefits package for this job posting is offered through the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc.

Employment Requirement:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including Criminal Record check, Drug Screening and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

This job posting is subject to change at any time.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta offers excellent benefits and career opportunities as part of our culture of excellence. The opportunities to serve are vast, and we're looking for like minded people, who share our values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY to join us and do their best work.
