Job description

We are currently hiring an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Houston, TX 77073. This is a 12-month contract position offering $25.00/hour, with the potential to transition into a temp-to-hire opportunity based on business needs and performance. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment in a precision manufacturing environment.


Schedule
  • Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Overtime as needed)


Main Responsibilities

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathes, VTLs, milling machines, and manual machining equipment.
  • Machining large rotors, gas components, cases, aero components, and other precision parts.
  • Aligning parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, OEM drawings, schematics, work instructions, and digital routers.
  • Applying GD&T principles to ensure machining accuracy and quality.
  • Calculating and adjusting machining parameters, including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
  • Monitoring machine operations, making adjustments, and troubleshooting issues to maintain quality standards.
  • Selecting and securing fixtures, cutting tools, and materials for machining operations.
  • Supporting both Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations based on production needs.
  • Following all safety procedures and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.


Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related machining experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment, including:
  • CNC Mills
  • CNC Lathes
  • NC Machines
  • Manual Mills
  • Manual Lathes
  • Manual Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs)
  • Advanced machining experience with:
  • OD and ID turning
  • Grinding and burnishing
  • Feed rate calculations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and basic algebra/geometry.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with a team.
  • English proficiency required.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining gas turbine components, including HSPT, GE10, Frame 3, Frame 5, Frame 6, and Frame 7 components.
  • Manufacturing, Industrial, or Oil & Gas industry experience.
  • CNC certifications are a plus.


Work Environment
  • Workshop-based position
  • No travel required

  • Standing for extended periods and working overtime as needed
