Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience managing a VMware environment
  • 5+ years of experience managing Windows Server and Linux Server Operating Systems

5+ years of experience building automation with tools such as:

  • PowerShell
  • Python
  • Puppet
  • Ansible
  • BASH

Experience with monitoring systems such as:

  • Splunk
  • LogicMonitor
  • Tanium
  • Tenable
  • Knowledgeable in basic network configuration (route switch, firewall, cabling, layer 2 heavy environments, data center and campus networking, routing protocols, subnetting, IP protocols, IOSXE, Cisco ASA/FTD)
  • Experience in managing ServiceNow tickets, as well as developing reporting and dashboards
  • Experience in managing projects or leading the work of others

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $44 per hour - $54 per hour. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

Job Summary

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking a Systems Engineer for a six-month contract-to-hire engagement on the Business Infrastructure Services team, with the opportunity to convert to a full-time role based on performance and business need. World Wide Technology, Inc., has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to help support a wide range of core infrastructure technologies, including compute, storage, networking, operating systems, monitoring, backups/recovery, automation frameworks, and potentially end user technologies. This role requires the ability to provide on-site support at our Integration Center and demands strong communication skills to collaborate with Integration Center leadership and cross-functional IT resources.

As a Systems Engineer, your primary objective is to design, install, and maintain the infrastructure services within our Integration Center (lab) environments. You must be able and motivated to expand your technical knowledge and skills through a combination of formal training, self-directed training, and on-the-job experience.

Job Responsibilities

Systems Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Compute environment
    • VxRail
  • Manage existing configuration management and automation
  • Familiar with the following Operating Systems
    • VMware ESXi, Windows Server (Active Directory, DHCP, File Share, Terminal Services), and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu)
  • Able to automate IaaS, PaaS technologies
    • PowerShell
    • Python
    • Ansible
    • Or similar programming languages that assist in automation
  • Creative thinker who looks for new ways to solve problems
  • Provide typical systems administration support (OS, server hardware & Tier 2/3 ticket support)
  • Perform routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance
  • Capacity planning and performance planning
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with vendors
  • Document the policies and procedures to support the Integration Center Infrastructure environments and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies
  • Provide on-call support per the published schedule
