Job description

Printpack Bloomington is looking for a Bag Machine Operator with a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Available schedule options include:
Monday-Thursday 7AM-7PM
Friday-Sunday 7AM-7PM (Work 36 hours, get paid for 40)
Monday-Thursday 7PM-7AM
Compensation for this position is $21.77+ depending on experience.

The Bag Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, quality production, general adjustments of the machine and general operational maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate the bag machine in an effective and efficient manner
  • Monitor equipment and the bag making process to ensure quality
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance activities on machine when necessary
  • Demonstrate effective interaction skills to support team activities related to effective process decisions and goals
  • Pack the finished product according to customer specifications
  • Demonstrates knowledge of plant and process safety rules and safe operating methods
  • Be able to be versatile and help in other areas of the department as needed (this includes but is not limited to cutting cores, supplying film, supplying pallets, preparing boxes, etc.)
  • Perform routine safety inspections of equipment
  • Perform daily housekeeping chores
  • Have a strong understanding of rack numbering systems, tags, raw materials and WIP

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Possess basic computer skills including email
  • Must have the ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb, kneel, bend, squat
  • Must be able to grasp, push, pull and have fine motor skills
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to wear PPE including but not limited to hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses

Work Conditions:

The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Noise levels above 80 dB

  • Operation of complex machinery

  • Solvents, fumes and inks

  • Variable Temperatures
