From safely delivering clean, reliable power to families and businesses across the province and cancer-fighting medical isotopes around the world to supporting challenging and innovative nuclear projects like our multi-year Life Extension Program. Supporting this work onsite offers interesting and impactful opportunities.
We are seeking Contract Specialists for contract opportunities at the Bruce Power site through a contract partner. These dynamic opportunities require individuals who thrive in a fast paced and integrated team environment.
The Contract Specialist provides expert purchasing and contract management support, overseeing the full contract lifecycle from strategy development and negotiation through administration and closeout. This role develops strategic service agreements, supports contract negotiations, supervises staff handling buying and administrative activities, and analyzes market trends to assess supply capability and risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Manager in leading procurement and contract management activities, including providing guidance, coaching, and oversight to procurement staff.
- Develop, negotiate, implement, and administer strategic service agreements and contracts that support Bruce Power's business objectives.
- Lead cross-functional teams in sourcing initiatives, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and the establishment of master service agreements.
- Analyze market conditions, supplier capabilities, and industry trends to develop effective sourcing and supply strategies.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, including performance management, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to optimize supply chain performance, reduce risk, improve efficiency, and deliver best value through innovative sourcing solutions.
- Support supplier segmentation, demand forecasting, spend analysis, and supplier rationalization initiatives to enhance business outcomes.
- Utilize related systems to support contract execution, administration, reporting, and performance measurement.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and strategic partners to align business requirements, manage changing priorities, and support service lifecycle management.
- Champion continuous improvement, process optimization, and the adoption of new technologies and commercial practices across Supply Chain Management.
- Ensure contracts and procurement activities are conducted with a strong focus on safety, business integrity, risk management, and operational excellence.
- Provide cross-functional support to Procurement, Contracts Management, Supply Chain Management, and Project teams as required.
- Lead and develop Supply Chain professionals, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and balance workload to ensure procurement and contracting activities are executed effectively and on schedule. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Four-year university education in an appropriate field, such as Business Administration or related discipline.
- 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, contract management, or supply chain management in nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated and complex industries.
- Experience in new build of complex industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, contract law, demand planning, inventory management, logistics, supplier relationship management, and sourcing strategies.
- Experience developing and executing commercial strategies, leading contract negotiations, and managing long-term supplier agreements.
- Experience with Vendor relationship management.
- Experience with Competitive dialogue and market engagement.
- Proven ability to analyze market trends, forecast demand, and identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier optimization, and business value creation.
- Strong financial acumen with experience preparing commercial evaluations, business cases, and executive-level recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and with external suppliers.
- Customer-focused with a results-oriented approach and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
- Understanding of project lifecycle management and cross-functional business operations.
- Experience using procurement and contract management systems.
- Ability to lead initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive outcomes in a collaborative environment.
- Experience with supplier performance management, claims and dispute resolution, or schedule and delay analysis is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Bruce Power's business environment, supply chain and procurement processes, and contract management practices is an asset.
