Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Spring, TX that is seeking a SW/HW Audio Engineer.
Responsibilities:
* Embedded Development: Design, develop, and maintain embedded software systems that interface with hardware components and support local ML models
* Simulation: Use matlab or python to simulate Audio DSP and Image Processing/Computer vision routines, optimize and deploy to embedded targets
* AI Integration: Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate and deploy small language models on embedded devices, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency
* Optimization: Optimize software for performance, memory usage, and power consumption on resource-constrained embedded systems
* Hardware Interaction: Interface with hardware components and peripherals, and develop drivers and low-level software to ensure smooth operation
* Testing & Debugging: Implement rigorous testing procedures and debugging techniques to identify and resolve issues in embedded software
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, data scientists, and software developers, to deliver cohesive and high-quality solutions
* Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for embedded software design, implementation, and deployment processes
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
* 5+ years of experience in embedded software development
* Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
* Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture, real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Linux
* Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and peripheral interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART)
* Proven experience in optimizing software for performance and resource constraints
* Proficiency with debugging tools and techniques, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit emulators
* Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
Preferred Qualifications:
* AI & ML: Familiarity with integrating AI models and algorithms into embedded systems
* Networking: Experience with Bluetooth and WiFi in an embedded environment
* Audio DSP, Image Processing, Computer vision experience
* DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD practices for embedded systems development
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
