ย The Athletic Trainer provides "Athletic Training Services" to student athletes in accordance with the state of Delaware's athletic training practices. ย He/She also provides valuable facilities assistance to the Athletic Department. The Athletic Trainer will ย Supervise the prevention, care, treatment, and recovery of injuries to high school student-athletes. He/She will also provide administration, supervision and maintenance of the athletic training facility, equipment, supplies and documentation. ย This position specifically supports the mission of Delmarva Christian High School and the Athletic Department by assisting in institutional compliance with the NATA rules and regulations.ย

- Certified in emergency care procedures (CPR, IMPACT, First Aid, and AED).

Responsibilities:
- Implement and supervise the prevention and treatment programs of athletic injuries to Delmarva Christian student-athletes.
- Evaluate and treat reported athletic injuries or illness of high school student-athletes (as well as visiting team student-athletes)
- Provide and supervise emergency treatment of injuries or illness to high school student-athletes on school grounds (as well as visiting teams student-athletes), including the use of emergency equipment and supplies and the removal from the playing field/court.
- Determine if a student-athlete is capable of continued participation in a competition or practice if they sustain an injury or illness or is otherwise unable to safely continue such participation.
- Communicate injury and illness status to the student-athlete's head coach or designee.
- Implement and supervise the reconditioning and treatment programs (protocols) for injured Delmarva Christian student-athletes.
- Communicate with the student-athlete's parents/guardians when injuries/illness has occurred requiring referral to a physician.
- Apply protective or injury prevention devices, such as tape, wraps, pads, braces or other equipment for athletic participation.
- Order athletic training supplies through the purchase order system.
- Stock and maintain inventory for team travel kits including tape, forms, bandages, pre-wrap, etc.
- Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the Athletic training room as well as the Fitness Center.
- Maintain records of all athletic injuries.
- Maintain records of coaches concussion certification and CPR records.
- Stay informed on and comply with all DIAA medical regulations. Complete and maintain continuing education as required by Delaware DPR and BOC AT.
- Uphold and enforce school and Board policies.
- Keep coaches up to date on concussion protocols, Emergency Action Plans, and proper procedures concerning athlete safety.
