Overview

We’re looking for a mid-level Embedded Software Engineer to help build and integrate mission-critical embedded software/firmware for advanced defense/safety-critical systems. You’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, writing high-quality C/C++ code and supporting testing and integration.

What you’ll do

  • Integrate software modules within subsystems and support system-level integration
  • Build tools/test harnesses to support development, testing, and maintenance
  • Debug and troubleshoot embedded/real-time software issues
  • Work in modern engineering workflows (Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, test automation)
  • Communicate regularly with teammates and stakeholders
  • Help improve team processes/tools; mentor junior engineers as needed

What we’re looking for (must-haves)

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE/Software Engineering (or similar technical field)
  • 8+ years relevant experience (or 6+ years + Master’s)
  • 5+ years in real-time embedded systems (defense/aerospace/safety-critical preferred)
  • Strong C/C++ embedded development experience
  • RTOS experience (e.g., VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS)
  • Experience with embedded processors/microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex, RISC-V)
  • Debugging tools experience (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes)
  • Must be in North Alabama or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area

Nice-to-haves

  • Weapons/flight controls or other highly deterministic embedded systems experience
  • Containerization familiarity (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
