Job description

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to establish and lead delivery management for GDCO's Data & Analytics organization. This is a foundational role - you will be the dedicated TPM on a team of data engineers, analytics engineers, BI engineers, applied scientists, and SDEs who provide data intelligence for Amazon's global data center operation organization.
This is not a program management role where you own a specific technical deliverable. This is a delivery leadership role where you own the system by which the team ships work reliably, communicates proactively, and earns trust from operational leaders across the globe.
What You'll Do
Delivery Management & Execution:
  • Establish and own the end-to-end delivery framework: intake process, prioritization methodology, capacity planning, sprint/delivery cadence, and release management for the full data & analytics team
  • Define and track SLA commitments for all major workstreams - ensuring the team delivers on time or communicates proactively when timelines shift
  • Manage the team's backlog - driving prioritization decisions with leadership and ensuring high-value work is not blocked by low-value requests

Stakeholder Management & Communication:
  • Serve as the primary delivery interface between the data team and its customers
  • Own the stakeholder communication cadence: proactive status updates, escalation paths, and expectation management when priorities shift or timelines change
  • Translate technical delivery status into business-relevant updates for non-technical leaders

Cross-Team Coordination:
  • Coordinate across several functional pods (Embedded Analytics, Self-Service Platform Engineering, Data Quality, Science) to manage dependencies, resolve blockers, and ensure cross-pod work ships cohesively
  • Partner with the Embedded Analytics Manager to define the operating rhythm between embedded analysts and program teams they serve

Key job responsibilities
  • Intake & Prioritization Framework - how work enters the team, how it's prioritized, and how decisions are made when demand exceeds capacity
  • Delivery SLAs & Quality Standards - the commitments we make to customers and the gates that ensure we meet them
  • Stakeholder Communication Cadence - the rhythm and channels through which customers get transparency into our work
  • Dependency & Risk Management - tracking cross-team dependencies (especially Boost migration) and surfacing risks before they become blockers
  • Delivery Metrics & Reporting - measuring and reporting on the team's delivery health to leadership
  • Backlog Health - ensuring the backlog is prioritized, sized, and aging is managed

About the team
GDCO (Global Data Center Operations) operates Amazon's worldwide fleet - the physical infrastructure that powers AWS, Prime, Alexa, and every Amazon service. Our Data & Analytics team as a thought partner with all stakeholders and customers - provides the intelligence layer: operational metrics, diagnostic analytics, predictive models, and AI-ready data infrastructure that drives critical business decisions.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • Experience establishing delivery processes for mid-to-large size technical teams (intake, prioritization, SLAs, quality gates)
  • Experience managing programs with multiple concurrent workstreams and cross-functional dependencies
  • Experience communicating technical delivery status to senior non-technical stakeholders (Director/VP level)
  • Experience with data engineering or analytics ecosystems (ETL pipelines, data warehouses, BI tools, dashboards)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in a technical field, or Master of Business Administration
  • Experience in data center operations, infrastructure, or field operations environments
  • Experience managing delivery for teams undergoing organizational transformation (new operating models, new team structures)
  • Experience with embedded analytics or data science teams - understanding how to measure impact beyond artifact delivery
  • Familiarity with Amazon data tools (QuickSight, Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, Glue) or equivalent
  • Experience with agile delivery at scale (SAFe, Scrum of Scrums, or similar)
  • Experience with capacity planning and resource optimization across multiple concurrent programs

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
