Continuity Managers are professionals responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining business continuity plans within an organization. Their main goal is to ensure that critical business functions can continue or quickly resume during and after a disruption, such as a natural disaster, cyberattack, or other emergencies. They assess risks, coordinate with various departments, conduct training and simulations, and regularly update continuity strategies to minimize operational downtime. Their work is essential for safeguarding an organization’s assets, reputation, and ongoing operations.

What are some common challenges a continuity manager faces when implementing business continuity plans across multiple departments?

Continuity Managers often face the challenge of aligning different departments with standardized business continuity practices while accommodating unique operational needs. Job Description

You'll work closely with stakeholders to understand critical services, assess risk, and ensure recovery strategies are aligned to business priorities and regulatory expectations.
This role combines analytical, advisory, and execution-focused work. The team places a strong emphasis on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. You'll have regular interaction with senior leaders, and the opportunity to support conversations that shape priorities across the organization giving you exposure across multiple lines of business. It's a strong fit for someone who enjoys working independently while staying closely connected to the business and driving meaningful outcomes.

  • Advise: Provide guidance to stakeholders on risk, recovery strategies, and program requirements while influencing outcomes without direct authority
  • Improve: Drive continuous improvement by identifying gaps, monitoring remediation efforts, and supporting the evolution toward risk-based planning and testing

Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Crisis Management, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field and 5+ years of related experience in business continuity program management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong understanding of business continuity regulatory requirements within the Financial Services industry
  • Solid knowledge of security and IT system change control processes
