Director of Social & Content Strategy with a strategic vision to move the brand forward through a creative-led lens. This leader will define how Madewell shows up across platforms, shaping a cohesive, culturally relevant content ecosystem that drives both brand heat and business impact. Candidates should have expertise in three key areas:
  • Content Strategy: This role will lead the development of multi-dimensional content strategies, including brand campaigns, with a social-first approach. As a key cross-functional partner, they will drive strategies that support business priorities, delivering best-in-class creative content for strategic initiatives across owned, paid, and earned channels. They will establish a clear content architecture and narrative framework that ensures consistency across campaigns, channels, and customer touchpoints.
  • Social Media: The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of social media marketing and how to effectively scale content across platforms. With a forward-thinking, insight-driven mindset, this role will leverage consumer behavior and cultural trends to translate Madewell's brand direction and strategy into impactful, global brand moments. They will own the evolution of Madewell's social voice and presence, ensuring it remains distinctive, culturally fluent, and aligned with brand positioning.
  • Digital Innovation: This role will partner closely with social platforms to shape and advance innovative strategies, ensuring Madewell remains at the forefront of emerging formats, tools, and content opportunities. They will proactively identify and pilot new formats, technologies, and platform capabilities, translating them into scalable opportunities for the brand.

Responsibilities
  • Define and oversee the end-to-end content lifecycle-from concept through production to distribution-ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with brand standards
  • Develop a content strategy that supports brand and marketing objectives across all digital channels based on insights and learning , including Instagram, TikTok, and Substack, as well as emerging social channels
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics for social and content performance, tying creative output to measurable business outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with creative, brand marketing, performance marketing, merchandising, and styling teams to drive creative alignment and advancement across the digital ecosystem. Partner with Creative, Editorial, and Production teams to translate campaign ideas into platform-native content that performs across channels
  • Partner closely with influencer marketing to develop campaign strategies (across all channels, with a focus on TikTok), including talent selection, vetting, briefing, and creative direction to ensure best-in-class execution
  • Collaborate with Performance Marketing to optimize paid social strategies, ensuring creative is tailored for conversion while maintaining brand integrity
  • Directly manage a team of creative strategists and social experts, fostering a high-performance culture and elevating creative output across channels
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, building a best-in-class social and content team
  • Lead content planning and editorial calendar development, ensuring a consistent cadence of storytelling, product focus, and cultural relevance
  • Build franchises, strategies, guides, and systems to ensure consistency across the content landscape
  • Identify and build scalable content formats and repeatable series that drive engagement and brand recognition over time
  • Develop strong relationships with key platforms to unlock innovation, early access opportunities, and go-to-market partnerships
  • Manage budgets related to content production, creators, and platform partnerships, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, and competitors to ensure Madewell remains at the forefront of social creativity and innovation
  • Manage monthly content reporting processes to create actionable insights; integrate data into broader creative campaigns to deliver data-driven content
  • Oversee community management strategy, ensuring a consistent and thoughtful brand voice in customer interactions

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant experience managing social, influencer, and content programs for global brands.
  • Exceptional social and digital brand skillset with a powerful creative and data-centric mindset
  • Extensive experience in the content creator economy, ensuring creativity and community remain at the forefront.
  • Significant and proven leadership experience, with evidence of driving business change/ growth Ability to translate briefs into actionable insights for creatives.
  • Excellent editorial/creative judgment and ability to capture Anthropologie's brand to reach new and legacy consumers.
  • Conduent, collaborative, and communicative with a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pro-active problem solver and critical, creative thinking a must.
  • Powerful collective mindset, building robust and long-term partnerships internally and externally.
  • Ability to balance business and brand considerations in both big-picture and day-to-day ways
  • A strong team player and a self-starter - collaborative, proactive, and enthusiastic to drive teams to results

  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and project management skills

Salary Range: $152,800.00 - $201,400.00
