Content Rater information

What is a content rater?

Content Raters are individuals who evaluate and provide feedback on the quality, relevance, and accuracy of online content, such as search engine results, advertisements, or social media posts. They follow specific guidelines set by companies to ensure that the content aligns with user expectations and company standards. Content raters play a key role in improving algorithms by manually reviewing and rating content, helping to refine search results and online experiences for users. This position often requires attention to detail, critical thinking, and a good understanding of local culture and language.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a content rater?

To thrive as a Content Rater, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of internet search engines and content guidelines, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with online rating platforms, web browsers, and sometimes proprietary evaluation tools is required. Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure consistent, accurate assessments of online content, directly impacting user experience and the quality of search results.

What are some common challenges faced by content raters, and how can they be effectively managed?

Content Raters often encounter challenges such as evaluating large volumes of diverse content within tight deadlines and maintaining objectivity when assessing sensitive or ambiguous material. Staying consistent with evolving guidelines and adapting to frequent changes in evaluation criteria can also be demanding. Effective time management, regular review of updated protocols, and open communication with team leads or quality analysts help manage these challenges. Additionally, participating in training sessions and peer discussions can improve accuracy and confidence in decision-making.

What is the difference between Content Rater vs Content Moderator?

Job description

Job Summary
The Learning & Development Specialist is primarily a functional trainer. This role designs and delivers performance-based training across the organization, executing learning plans built on extensive performance analysis. The ideal candidate walks into any work environment, earns credibility fast, and delivers training that changes behavior. The remaining responsibilities span training administration, onboarding facilitation, compliance education, and HR generalist support. This is not a coordination role with occasional facilitation. Functional training is the bulk of the job. Ideal candidates are direct communicators who can deliver honest feedback without creating defensiveness, work independently once given a plan, and take pride in measurable outcomes rather than completed checkboxes.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Training Delivery (Primary)
Serve as the organization's functional trainer, executing performance-based training plans across departments. Training plans are built from performance analysis and provided by the L&D leader. This role owns the delivery. That means entering real work environments, building trust with front-line employees and their leaders, facilitating skill-building sessions, coaching in the moment, and following up until behavior changes. Success is measured by whether people perform differently after training, not whether sessions were held on schedule.
Orientation Facilitation
Oversee and deliver new hire orientation, including material preparation, facilitation, and weekly summary distribution. Maintain an NPS of 50 or higher through quality delivery and continuous feedback monitoring.
Training Administration
Serve as administrator for internal training programs. Set up sessions, manage invitations, track attendance, follow up with participants who miss sessions, and document completions.
Content Evaluation
Conduct Level 3 evaluations for all internal trainings and maintain results in the L&D master data tracker.
Compliance Training
Manage state and federal compliance training schedules, track completion, generate reports, and sustain a minimum 98% completion rate across the organization.
Assessment Delivery
Facilitate Big Five personality assessments for individuals and teams, ensuring accurate interpretation and actionable feedback.
Learning Systems Management
Maintain and update L&D content within SharePoint and UKG Pro Learning. Assign and manage new leader training content.
Reporting & Metrics
Support data collection, analysis, and evaluation across all L&D programs to drive continuous improvement.
Leadership Resources
Maintain the Leadership SharePoint page with relevant tools, articles, and updated content.
UKG Learning Requests
Upload departmental content to UKG Pro Learning as requested and supply participation reports to department leaders.
HR Phone Support
Partner with the HR team to ensure 100% of incoming HR calls are answered within three rings.
Education and Ideal Experience
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Education, or a related field preferred
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in training delivery, L&D, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate skill-building in real work environments, not just classroom settings
  • Experience building trust quickly with frontline employees and operational leaders
  • Proven ability to deliver direct, constructive feedback without creating resistance
  • Experience using learning management systems such as UKG Pro Learning and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously
  • High degree of personal accountability and the ability to work independently once given direction
