REPORTS TO:  Director of STEM Program- Elementary

POSITION TYPE: 12-month

 

START DATE: Immediate

 

COMPENSATION $63,967 - $80,831, Home Office Grade 6 (Grant-funded through 2028)

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Elementary Content Specialist – Math to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.

To put it simply, you will, you will be a member of a team of mathematics leaders who set the vision for Math courses across the system, write curriculum that aligns to that vision, provide exemplary instructional models, and develop teachers and instructional leaders to increase student achievement for all students. Specifically, you will drive achievement for our students in 4th-5th math courses by teaching one class section, creating aligned resources, and supporting teacher development in that course.

 

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the work and responsibilities will include:

Exemplary Teaching

  • Modeling effective Mathematics teaching practices on a campus or campuses;
  • Directly and positively impacting Mathematics student achievement;
  • Developing, refining, and sharing best practices and curricular resources through regular application and reflection.

Curriculum and Resource Development

  • Remaining up to date on Mathematics standards, pedagogy, and assessment methodology;
  • Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective instructional resources for designated courses, setting a standard for rigorous and meaningful daily instruction designed to reach all learners, leading to strong system-wide academic results and support implementation of these resources;
  • Working with the Elementary STEM Content Director to build strong vertical alignment across the content team that leads to Mathematics college-readiness;
  • Collaborating with colleagues, including from the special populations team, to ensure that resources for your result in the success of all students.

Assessment Writing and Data Analysis

  • Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective, and valid assessments to monitor progress towards ambitious student achievement goals;
  • Internalizing and utilizing up-to-date student achievement data to drive planning and support; communicating key takeaways and recommendations to teachers and leaders.

Support and Develop Fellow Educators and Leaders

  • Planning, coaching teacher facilitators, and facilitating effective Content Days leading to teacher development and collaboration;
  • Collaborating meaningfully with others, such as Special Education team members, Directors of Program Success, and Director of Multilingual Programs, to ensure instruction and teacher support are aligned;
  • Regularly designing and facilitating professional development sessions for teachers and/or instructional leaders.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
  • A minimum of 2 years of exemplary elementary Mathematics teaching experience
  • A valid Texas Teaching certificate in your content area
  • Knowledge of current Mathematics curricular and assessment strategies
  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
