Role Overview: Social Media Associate

Arlington, VA | In office, Monday-Friday

The Social Media Associate owns social media community management, listening, and performance reporting for CoStar Group and CoStar. This role protects and enhances brand reputation, strengthens customer relationships, and generates the insights that power organic content, boosting (paid social), and employee advocacy strategy across the parent company and flagship product.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and engage with CoStar Group and CoStar's social media communities across platforms daily, including comments, DMs, mentions and tags.
  • Implement strategies to grow and nurture online audience engagement that reinforce our brand voice.
  • Respond to community inquiries and feedback promptly and professionally, proactively identifying opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Escalate product- or service-related questions to the appropriate internal stakeholders and track resolution.
  • Monitor daily media coverage and translate relevant coverage into timely social media engagement or content opportunities.
  • Support and help refine the team's social media moderation and crisis management protocols.
  • Strategically follow employee advocates, clients, prospects, and community partners.
  • Monitor compliance with social media guidelines and escalate brand risk as needed.
  • Monitor social media conversations to surface decision-ready insights for marketing, sales, product, HR, and analytics teams.
  • Build and maintain listening queries, refining them regularly to ensure accurate, high-signal data capture.
  • Partner with social media and analytics teams to connect listening insights to strategic content feedback loops.
  • Track and analyze community engagement and listening metrics, delivering insights to improve strategy.
  • Monitor organic social media content performance and surface recommendations for optimization.
  • Reconcile and analyze boosting (paid social) campaign performance and audience data to inform optimizations.
  • Organize Employee Advocacy users into teams and groups to streamline reporting.
  • Measure employee advocacy program effectiveness and recommend improvements to reach and participation.
  • Develop and drive consistent reporting cadence: weekly team chat standups, monthly management reports, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Proactively monitor and share platform updates and emerging social media trends to ensure social media community management, social listening, and reporting strategies remain aligned with current best practices.
  • Support social media team with organic social, boosting (paid social), and employee advocacy surges and coverage as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Sociology, Psychology, English, or a related field, from an accredited, not-for-profit, in person, University or College.
  • 2+ years of experience in social media, public relations, customer service, communications, or related fields.
  • 1+ years of experience with Sprout Social or a similar monitoring/reporting tool.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workflows.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with a customer-centric approach to engagement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Experience with Asana or similar project management tools a plus.
  • Ability to read and write in Spanish and/or French a plus.

The final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies. Base Compensation: $63,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually
