What is content delivery?

Content delivery refers to the process of distributing digital content such as videos, images, web pages, and files to end users efficiently and reliably. This is often achieved using Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), which are networks of servers located in different geographical locations. The goal is to reduce latency, improve load times, and ensure that users have a seamless experience when accessing content online. Content delivery is essential for websites, streaming services, and any platform that serves content to a global audience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in content delivery?

To thrive in Content Delivery, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience with content management systems (CMS), usually supported by a background in communications, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with digital asset management tools, web publishing platforms, and basic HTML or SEO principles is often required. Effective communication, problem-solving, and time management are crucial soft skills to excel in coordinating content across multiple channels. These competencies ensure timely, accurate, and engaging content delivery, which is vital for maintaining brand consistency and audience engagement.

What are some common challenges faced in a content delivery role, and how can they be effectively managed?

Professionals in Content Delivery often encounter challenges such as ensuring timely publication across multiple platforms, maintaining content accuracy, and coordinating with various stakeholders like writers, designers, and IT teams. Managing tight deadlines and unexpected technical issues requires strong organizational skills and adaptability. Effective communication, proactive project tracking, and familiarity with content management systems are key strategies to overcome these challenges and ensure smooth content distribution.

You'll be the driving force behind content acquisition at scale, serving as our go-to expert on sourcing and delivery. You'll also act as the initial point of contact for our Operations team on content and delivery related questions.

Requirements

  • Detail oriented and adaptable, with the ability to thrive as a fast learner in a dynamic, lightly structured environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers and team members at all levels
  • Experience providing technical support, customer success, or a similar customer-facing technical role
  • Comfortable working in Windows and virtual machine environments
  • Experience with cloud and streaming related products; video streaming technology experience is a strong plus
  • Experience with content scheduling, ingest, delivery, and metadata insertion/editing is a plus
  • Familiarity with data centers, hardware, and network cabling is a plus
  • Proven ability to follow and improve technical processes
  • Ability to produce analytical reports on acquisition and support team activities
  • This role requires working late afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as live content capture often happens outside standard business hours
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for Operations on customer incidents, problems, and questions, related to content delivery.
  • Own end-to-end source and content acquisition requests, partnering directly with customers to understand their needs and deliver fast, accurate service
  • Schedule, ingest, and deliver content on time and to spec, coordinating across sources and systems to keep the pipeline moving
  • Insert and edit metadata to ensure content is accurate, searchable, and ready for customer use
  • Analyze acquisition trends and metrics to identify opportunities to improve speed, accuracy, and process
  • Proactively author and maintain knowledge base content such as FAQs, self-help guides for internal teams
  • Escalate issues to our technology teams with clear detail, and contribute product improvement ideas and customer feature requests
  • Work effectively and self-manage within a remote team environment, prioritizing time and tasks independently
  • Serve as remote hands for our Operations Engineers at our data facilities, assisting with hardware, cabling, and equipment tasks as needed
  • Maintain availability during evenings and weekends as needed to deliver acquisition requests on customer timelines

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $45,000-$65,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Final offers are determined individually and may vary based on relevant experience. This range reflects base salary only and does not include the value of benefits or other incentives.
