Job description

Digital Marketing & Content Specialist

The MedEquip Shop | Houston, TX | On-site

Why this role exists

We're a Houston-based home medical equipment retailer and rental business serving two distinct audiences: walk-in retail customers and hospice agencies who depend on us for reliable equipment. We're hiring one person to own our entire marketing engine — content, web, social, email, and paid ads. This is a builder's role for someone who wants full ownership rather than a narrow lane on a big team.

You'll report directly to the owner and have real influence over how the business grows.

What you'll own

Content & SEO (the foundation)

  • Write 1-2 blog article per week answering the real questions our customers and referral partners ask (think "They Ask, You Answer" methodology)
  • Optimize product pages and site content for search and AI-answer visibility (schema markup, FAQs, metadata)
  • Keep the website accurate and current — product details, pricing, availability, seasonal updates

Social & Paid Advertising

  • Plan and publish across our social channels
  • Build, launch, and manage paid ad campaigns on Meta — including budgets, targeting, and reporting on what's working
  • Shoot and edit video and photo content on-site (product demos, customer education, behind-the-scenes) using a smartphone/DSLR and basic editing tools — no studio crew, just resourcefulness

Email Marketing

  • Produce bi-weekly customer newsletters plus seasonal/holiday campaigns
  • Grow and segment our list; track opens, clicks, and conversions
What makes you a fit

Required

  • 2–4 years in a hands-on marketing role (agency or in-house), ideally where you wore multiple hats
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively for a non-technical audience — please include 1–2 writing samples
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and at least one CMS (we use Shopify)
  • Direct experience running Meta and/or Google ad campaigns with a real budget
  • Comfortable shooting and editing basic video/photo content yourself
  • Self-directed — you can take a goal and run with it without daily supervision

Nice to have

  • Healthcare, medical equipment, senior care, or hospice-adjacent experience
  • CRM / email platform experience (Gohighlevel, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar)
  • Basic familiarity with analytics (GA4, Shopify reports)
The honest version

This is a one-person marketing department. You will not have a specialist to hand the "hard parts" to — you are the specialist. The right person finds that energizing. If you want to be the marketing pro who can point to a small business and say "I built that," this is your role.

Compensation & details
  • Salary: $52,000–$60,000 depending on experience
  • On-site in Houston (this role requires being in-store to create content and stay close to the business)

To apply, send your resume, 1–2 writing samples, and one example of a campaign or piece of content you're proud of.
