What is a content creator?

A Content Creator is a professional who produces engaging and relevant material for digital platforms, such as blogs, social media, websites, or video channels. Their work can include writing articles, creating videos, designing graphics, or producing podcasts to attract and engage audiences. Content Creators often tailor their material to suit the target audience and platform, using creativity and strategy to achieve marketing or communication goals. They may work independently or as part of a larger marketing or media team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Creator, you need strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, often supported by experience in digital media or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, SEO tools, and basic graphic or video editing software is typically required. Job description

Company OverviewQuality Roots is a licensed cannabis dispensary based in Metro Detroit, known for our curated product selection and community-first vibe. We strive to provide quality service and products throughout 9 locations in Michigan in the communities we serve. The Opportunity

Quality Roots is looking for someone who lives on social media. Not someone who occasionally posts and not someone who schedules content weeks in advance. We're looking for someone who understands what people stop scrolling for. Someone who already creates content that gets attention. Someone who knows how to build a community, recognizes trends before they peak, and can turn everyday moments into engaging content.

If you're already building your own audience, have a genuine passion for cannabis, and want the opportunity to build one of Michigan's fastest-growing dispensary brands, we'd love to meet you. This role is for someone who wants ownership, creative freedom, and the chance to make a real impact.

What You'll Own

You'll be responsible for the entire Quality Roots social media presence. That means creating the content, finding the stories, staying on top of trends, collaborating with our stores, growing our audience, and helping make Quality Roots one of the most recognized cannabis brands in Michigan.

This is not a desk job!

You'll be traveling between our stores, filming with our teams, showcasing products, covering events, highlighting our culture, and constantly looking for the next great piece of content.

Responsibilities
  • Create and publish 10–15 short-form videos each week across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and other emerging platforms.
  • Visit all Quality Roots locations to capture authentic, engaging content.
  • Develop content calendars and campaign ideas.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends and quickly adapt them for the Quality Roots brand.
  • Build relationships with our store teams to create authentic content.
  • Monitor analytics and continuously improve performance.
  • Help grow our audience, increase engagement, and strengthen our brand presence.
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with influencers and creators.
  • Work closely with leadership on promotions, product launches, and community initiatives.
Who You Are
  • You genuinely love social media.
  • You understand how content spreads and what makes people engage.
  • You're comfortable being behind the camera, in front of the camera, or directing others.
  • You don't wait for someone to tell you what to create and you already have your next ten ideas.
  • Cannabis knowledge is strongly preferred. You understand the culture, products, and the unique challenges of marketing in this industry.
  • Most importantly, you care about building something great.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience growing social media accounts.
  • A strong personal or professional social media following with high engagement.
  • Portfolio of content that demonstrates creativity and results.
  • Experience creating viral or high-performing short-form video content.
  • Strong video editing skills.
  • Comfortable traveling to all Quality Roots locations.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and dependable.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
Bonus Points
  • Cannabis industry experience.
  • Existing relationships within Michigan's cannabis community.
  • Experience working with influencers.
  • Paid social media experience.
  • Photography and graphic design skills.
Compensation

Compensation & Benefits: Pay is based on experience, knowledge, and skills. We offer competitive compensation that reflects your qualifications and the value you bring to the role. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off (PTO) and sick leave to support your well-being and work-life balance.

When You Apply

Show us your work. Include links to your social media accounts, portfolio, and examples of content you're proud of. We're looking for someone who can prove they know how to capture attention and not just tell us they can.
