What is a content creator?

A Content Creator is a professional who produces engaging and relevant material for digital platforms, such as blogs, social media, websites, or video channels. Their work can include writing articles, creating videos, designing graphics, or producing podcasts to attract and engage audiences. Content Creators often tailor their material to suit the target audience and platform, using creativity and strategy to achieve marketing or communication goals. They may work independently or as part of a larger marketing or media team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Creator, you need strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, often supported by experience in digital media or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, SEO tools, and basic graphic or video editing software is typically required. These skills are essential for producing engaging, high-quality content that drives audience growth and meets organizational goals.

What are some common challenges content creators face when managing multiple projects or platforms?

Content Creators often juggle several projects and platforms at once, which can make time management and consistency challenging. Balancing the unique requirements of each channel—such as adapting tone, format, and posting frequency—requires strong organizational skills. Collaborating effectively with designers, marketers, and other team members is key to ensuring cohesive and high-quality output across all platforms.

US Mobile

New York, NY • On-site

$75K - $100K/yr

Full-time

Posted 8 days ago

Job description

US Mobile is building the future of wireless communication. The goal: one unified network open to any person and any device, worldwide. Connection without walls.
We're getting there by empowering customers. All three major networks on one phone and one plan, plus home internet from Starlink. No lock-in. No commitments. Custom fit plans at every price point. 24/7 customer support with real people, empowered to help. We get real-time feedback from Reddit, surveys, and customer support informing product roadmaps and everything we do. It's working - we're The Wirecutter's favorite cellular carrier, and Consumer Reports has named us the top-rated mobile carrier two years in a row.*
And we're building innovative systems that scale. A network agnostic tech stack. Agile, cross-functional teams built on trust and mutual respect. This work isn't for everyone. If you work fast, flexibly, and collaboratively - without compromising standards - we want to hear from you.
About the role
Wireless carriers have spent decades sounding exactly the same - safe, corporate, forgettable. US Mobile is taking a different approach, rooted in a distinctive product and an exceptional customer experience, and our social presence is where people notice it first.
We're looking for a Content Creator to make entertaining, iconic content that gets people to actually share - short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube that's funny and specific enough to survive the group chat. You'll work alongside our Social Media Manager, taking ideas from a scribbled concept to a shot, edited, published piece of content, and using what performs to shape what we make next.
This is a hands-on, in-front-of-and-behind-the-camera role. You're conceiving, scripting, shooting, and editing yourself, on a real cadence, and getting better at it every week.
What You'll do:
Content Creation & Production
  • Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube - from quick-turn reactive posts to planned campaign content
  • Ship a consistent volume of original content every week (roughly 1-2 polished videos, plus lighter-weight reactive posts), balancing quality with speed
  • Build recurring formats that make US Mobile's channels worth following
  • Work on everything from creator collabs to fully scripted, produced concepts, depending on what the moment calls for

Strategy & Iteration
  • Evolve our short-form strategy using real performance data - run content experiments, track what lands, and double down on what works
  • Partner with the brand team on the content calendar, balancing always-on content with product launches, network news, and cultural moments
  • Spot trends and platform shifts early, and turn them into US Mobile-relevant content before they're stale

Collaboration & Culture
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and customer support to turn feature launches and real customer moments into content
  • Surface user-generated content, fan moments, and community insight back into the content pipeline
  • Help keep messaging and brand voice consistent across creators, partners, and channels

What We're Looking for:
  • A strong portfolio of short-form video you personally conceived, shot, and edited (not just campaigns you oversaw)
  • 2-5 years making content professionally or building your own channel/account
  • Comfortable on camera and behind the camera, and confident directing others when a concept calls for it
  • A sharp, current sense of what's actually funny or shareable on the internet right now
  • Basic video editing chops (or the judgment to brief and manage an editor as needed)
  • Bias for action: comfortable publishing, watching what happens, and iterating in real time rather than waiting on rounds of approval
  • Genuine curiosity about a category people usually tune out (wireless) and the appetite to make it interesting anyway

Benefits and Perks:
  • Company Offsite
  • Competitive Salary
  • Gym reimbursement
  • Commute reimbursement
  • Flexible working hours
  • Professional development stipend
  • Flexible time off
  • Cell phone service (up to $100/mo)

$75,000 - $100,000 a year
