SXSW Marketing Intern

Job Purpose
SXSW is seeking a Marketing Intern to support with paid marketing campaigns, content creator communication, and other initiatives across the marketing team. This role will support marketing efforts for the SXSW EDU amp; SXSW Conferences amp; Festivals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and has a passion for SXSW’s mission of helping creative people achieve their goals.
What You Will Learn
  • How the marketing funnel works across different team functions
  • How to create and manage paid advertising campaigns across Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, amp; Google
  • How to manage communication with potential partners and content creators
  • How to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across shared projects
Qualifications amp; Skills
To qualify for a SXSW Internship, you must reside in Texas and be enrolled in an accredited university or college for the entire internship.
  • Majoring in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Management, Communications/PR, or similar
  • Demonstrate strong and ongoing interest in creative and event industries
  • Show interest in expanding content marketing experience amp; knowledge
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment
  • Proficiency in G-Suite products (Gmail, Sheets, Docs)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, Bluesky, TikTok)
  • Understanding of key marketing metrics (CTR, CPA, ROI, etc)
On-site Responsibilities
  • Support the overall production and onsite execution of SXSW and SXSW EDU marketing operations across conference and festival events.
Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift to 15 pounds occasionally, as needed
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc
  • May require occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, or climbing stairs
  • Ability to work outdoors, including exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels

Work Location, Schedule, amp; Pay
This position is located in Austin, Texas. Must be available to work from October – March. Time commitment is a maximum of 16 hours per week. Availability of 40 hours per week during the event may be required. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10am – 6pm CT. This position requires living and working in Austin, Texas. This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
