Job description

Location: Greater Baton Rouge or Greater New Orleans, Louisiana
Position: Full-time
Department: Digital

About The Moran Group

The Moran Group is a full-service advertising agency specializing in strategic marketing solutions across digital, traditional, and emerging media. We partner with clients in industries including automotive, healthcare, and retail, helping brands grow through creative, innovative, and data-driven marketing strategies.

We are seeking an experienced, resourceful SEO Specialist to join our Digital Team. Reporting to the SEO Manager, the SEO Specialist will be part of a collaborative SEO team that includes Junior SEO Specialists and an SEO Intern. This is not a standalone SEO role-the Specialist will have the support of colleagues who share responsibility for developing, coordinating, and executing search engine optimization strategies across a diverse portfolio of agency clients. The position will also collaborate closely with content, account service, web, analytics, and other digital team members to turn client goals into actionable strategies and measurable results.

We are particularly interested in candidates located in or around the Greater Baton Rouge or Greater New Orleans areas. This is a hybrid position with regular in-office expectations and the flexibility to work remotely on designated days.

Position Overview

This is an exciting time for SEO and digital marketing. Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how people search for and consume information online. Search engines are integrating AI-generated answers, conversational experiences, and new visibility and ranking signals-creating both challenges and opportunities for brands and marketers.

At The Moran Group, we are actively adapting alongside these changes. We are exploring new strategies, tools, and approaches to help our clients remain visible and competitive across traditional search engines, AI-powered search experiences, local search platforms, and other digital discovery channels.

The ideal candidate combines SEO knowledge with strong writing, analytical, organizational, and client communication skills. This person should be comfortable managing multiple accounts, translating data into recommendations, coordinating projects across departments, and staying current as search technology evolves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute SEO strategies aligned with each client's business objectives, audience, industry, and competitive landscape
  • Define SEO goals, priorities, requirements, tasks, timelines, and resources for a portfolio of agency clients
  • Conduct keyword, topic, audience, competitor, and search-intent research
  • Perform technical, on-page, content, local, and off-site SEO audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve organic visibility, website traffic, engagement, conversions, and search presence
  • Optimize website pages, landing pages, blog posts, digital press releases, metadata, internal linking, and other digital content
  • Develop content recommendations, briefs, and priorities based on search demand, client goals, and competitive research
  • Collaborate with writers, designers, developers, account managers, and other digital specialists to implement SEO recommendations
  • Monitor website performance and search visibility using analytics, search performance, ranking, and reporting platforms
  • Prepare recurring reports that clearly explain performance, trends, insights, completed work, and recommended next steps
  • Communicate SEO strategies, priorities, results, and industry developments to internal teams and, when appropriate, clients
  • Manage local and off-site optimization efforts, including Google Business Profiles, directory listings, YouTube channels, and other relevant platforms
  • Maintain content accuracy, consistency, and organization across client websites and digital properties
  • Track branded search trends, competitive developments, algorithm changes, and emerging search behaviors
  • Evaluate how AI-generated search experiences and conversational discovery affect client visibility and content strategy
  • Support and help guide junior team members, interns, or content contributors as needed
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment
Qualifications
  • Two or more years of professional SEO, organic search, digital content, or closely related experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of on-page, technical, content, local, and off-site SEO principles
  • Experience conducting keyword research, SEO audits, competitive research, and content optimization
  • Experience using website analytics and search performance platforms, such as Google Analytics and Google Search Console
  • Ability to work across different websites, content management systems, and digital platforms
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and research skills
  • Ability to interpret data, identify meaningful trends, and translate findings into practical recommendations
  • Strong organizational, project-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Clear, professional communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and explain SEO concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Curiosity about emerging search technologies, AI-driven discovery, and changes in user search behavior
  • Ability to learn new tools and adapt strategies as platforms and best practices evolve
  • Experience in an advertising agency or with multiple simultaneous client accounts is a plus
  • Experience with local SEO, structured data, website platforms, SEO tools, or content strategy is a plus
  • A degree in marketing, communications, English, business, or a related field is helpful but not required when supported by relevant experience
What Success Looks Like

A successful SEO Specialist will keep client strategies organized and moving forward, communicate priorities clearly, uncover actionable opportunities through research and data, and help clients improve their visibility across an increasingly complex search landscape. This person will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on contributor who takes ownership of the details required to produce meaningful results.
