What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Content Creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Creator, you need strong writing, storytelling, and editing skills, often supported by experience in digital marketing or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva, and social media analytics platforms is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and time management are crucial soft skills for consistently producing engaging and relevant content. These abilities ensure that content resonates with target audiences, aligns with brand goals, and adapts to evolving digital trends.

What are some common challenges content creators face when working with cross-functional teams?

Content creators often collaborate with marketing, design, and product teams to produce cohesive and engaging material. One common challenge is aligning creative ideas with broader business objectives and timelines, which can sometimes require compromise or quick adjustments. Additionally, frequent feedback from multiple stakeholders can lead to revisions and scope changes, so effective communication and adaptability are essential. Building strong relationships and understanding the goals of each team helps ensure smoother collaboration and more successful content outcomes.

Job description

Applicant must be willing to work in our office in Fort Walton Beach, FL. No remote option is available for this position.
What You'll Do
As TalkingParents' Video Content Specialist, you'll be a key content creator on our award-winning marketing team working closely with our Video Content Team Lead and Lead Social Media Specialist, as well as the rest of our digital marketing and content teams, to produce videos that drive measurable results across paid and organic channels. This isn't a cinematic production role; it's a marketing-first content position where you'll concept, shoot, edit, and optimize video for platforms like Google Ads, Meta, YouTube, social media, and our website.
How you'll make an impact
We're looking for a creative, data-minded video content creator who understands that great marketing video isn't just visually appealing, it performs. You should be comfortable developing content from concept through delivery, working directly with on-camera subjects, and iterating based on performance data. Whether it's a paid social ad, a testimonial video, a webinar, or an organic social reel, you approach every piece of content with brand consistency and marketing objectives in mind.
Position Responsibilities
  • Conceptualizing, filming, and editing video content optimized for paid advertising campaigns across Google, Meta, YouTube, and other digital platforms.
  • Creating engaging organic video content for social media channels and the TalkingParents website, including short-form reels, promo videos, and event recaps.
  • Filming informational content, customer/client testimonials, and interviews while managing on-camera subjects with professionalism and ease.
  • Supporting the production and execution of live webinars, including setup, filming, and post-production of recorded versions.
  • Collaborating with the digital marketing and content teams to align video creative with campaign objectives, audience targeting, and brand guidelines.
  • Reviewing performance data and platform analytics to inform content decisions, improve creative effectiveness, and iterate on what's working.
  • Managing multiple projects simultaneously with varying timelines, scopes, and deliverables.
  • Maintaining organized asset libraries and ensuring all content adheres to TalkingParents' brand standards.

Position Requirements
Applicant must provide a demo reel or portfolio demonstrating relevant work. Please highlight your specific contributions on any team projects, and include examples of digital marketing, advertising, or social media video content wherever possible.
  • 1-3 years of experience creating video content for digital marketing, advertising, or social media purposes.
  • Understanding of video best practices across major digital advertising and social platforms (Meta, Google/YouTube, TikTok, etc.), including aspect ratios, format specs, and creative guidelines.
  • Familiarity with foundational marketing concepts. You understand why a video is being made, not just how to make it.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or Lightroom.
  • Experience shooting both photos and video with mirrorless camera systems and working with audio and lighting equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to direct and put at ease on-camera talent, including non-professional subjects.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to occasionally work outside normal office hours for video shoots and events.
  • Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments that may be physically demanding, including standing for extended periods and carrying equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Bonus Skills
  • Experience with animation and motion graphics, particularly Adobe After Effects.
  • Familiarity with CTV/OTT ad production and specs.
  • Experience with webinar/streaming platforms (e.g., Zoom, YouTube, Ecamm, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of paid media metrics (CTR, ROAS, CPV, etc.) and how creative impacts campaign performance.
  • Experience with A/B testing video creative or producing multiple ad variations for performance testing.
  • Familiarity with working with project management systems (e.g., ClickUp)
  • Utilization of marketing intelligence tools for content optimization and performance tracking (e.g., Motion, VidIQ, etc.)

Applicant must provide a demo reel or portfolio demonstrating relevant work. Please highlight your specific contributions on any team projects, and include examples of digital marketing, advertising, or social media video content wherever possible.
