Job description

The Part Time Content Builder role is a 100% remote, part-time staff position with the Academic Innovation & Distance Education (AIDE) program at BHCC. The part-time content developer will provide basic course development support for BHCC's instructional design program focused exclusively on online and hybrid courses.

The successful applicant will assist with the building of course material inside of the Canvas platform, using a variety of digital technologies including Canvas tools, Panopto Video Recording, H5P, and other digital tools available to the BHCC campus. They will also work alongside faculty in the revision and development of materials to be used in the course.

The course developer will work within the development team and reports to the Associate Director – Teaching, Learning, and Instructional Design.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Experience Design, or related field
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language with exceptional copy-editing skills.
  • Experience teaching and/or learning in an online/hybrid environment in higher education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience authoring content in a Learning Management System, (Canvas preferred but Blackboard, D2L, and Moodle experience also accepted)
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and ability to use HTML to code for user experience in a course design environment.
  • Familiarity with ADA requirements and Universal Design principles.
  • Detail oriented and quality minded
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to think creatively, work on multiple projects under deadlines, and achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Consistent access to computer with high-speed internet, Windows 10/MacOS 10+, and ability to run:
    • Supported Web Browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
    • Adobe Cloud (Acrobat, Creative Cloud, Captivate, etc.)
    • Panopto Video Recording
    • H5P
    • Microsoft 365 Programs
    • Microsoft Teams
  • Requires webcam, and headset with microphone or microphone and speaker
  • Ability to work with faculty and staff with various levels of technical knowhow and support needs


Additional Information:

Pay rate: $36.55/hr. @ 18.5 hours per week (non-benefited position)
