Description
Welder/Fabricator - Shipping Container Modification
Ellis Container Solutions is looking for a dependable, skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our container modification shop in Tom Bean, Texas. This position will involve hands-on work modifying shipping containers for commercial, industrial, and custom applications.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, taking accurate measurements, cutting and fitting steel, welding structural components, and completing fabrication work from start to finish. Our projects vary, so we need someone who takes pride in their work, can solve problems in the field, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to keep projects moving.
This is a hands-on shop position for someone who enjoys building things and wants to be part of a growing company.
Responsibilities
• Measure, lay out, cut, fit, and weld steel components used in shipping container modifications.
• Fabricate and install steel framing for doors, windows, roll-up doors, openings, and other container modifications.
• Perform MIG welding and general steel fabrication while maintaining clean, strong, professional welds.
• Operate grinders, saws, drills, and other fabrication/shop tools safely.
• Read measurements, drawings, and project specifications and complete work accurately.
• Inspect completed fabrication work for proper fit, alignment, weld quality, and overall workmanship.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with other shop and container-production tasks as needed.
Qualifications
• Previous welding, metal fabrication, or structural steel experience.
• Proficient with MIG welding and comfortable welding mild steel.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform fabrication layout.
• Experience using grinders, saws, drills, cutting equipment, and common fabrication tools.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and complete projects without constant supervision.
• Dependable, punctual, safety-minded, and willing to work as part of a team.
• Able to perform physical shop work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working inside and around shipping containers.
