Job Purpose

In your role as a welder, you will be performing necessary repairs and maintenance on waste management machinery, vehicles, and containers, while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The welder will collaborate with the maintenance team to keep all equipment in optimal condition, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Perform welding and metal fabrication work to repair and maintain waste management equipment, containers, and infrastructure.

  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment to identify potential issues and complete necessary repairs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand project specifications and welding requirements.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper functioning.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and company policies related to welding and waste management.
  • Assist in the modification of existing systems and equipment to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Document all welding work performed, including repairs, inspections, and modifications.

The successful candidate profile includes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in welding and diesel mechanics preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a welder and/or diesel mechanic, preferably in industrial, heavy equipment, or waste management settings.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical schematics.
  • Proficient in welding techniques and understanding welding tools and safety equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to welding, diesel mechanics, and waste management.
