What you will be doing:
  • Logs all orders booked and all work performed onto dispatch sheet
  • Dispatches all runs in a timely manner to ensure deliveries are made as scheduled
  • Moves loaded and empty containers to and from the rail in order to meet pre-scheduled cut-off times for export loads and to prevent storage charges for inbound loads and empties
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of equipment
  • Provides customers with accurate and timely information regarding activity and equipment inventories
  • Assists in billing by writing up cover sheets and matching with work orders or delivery orders
  • Assists Terminal Manager in all phases of managing the operation
  • Compiles list of available vehicles
  • Assigns vehicles according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, freight requirements, and preference of user
  • Issues keys, record sheets, credentials, and equipment to drivers
  • Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return
  • Investigates overdue vehicles
  • Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio
  • Tracks in-transit shipments
  • Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise
  • Maintains record of mileage, fuel used, repairs made, and other expenses
  • Establishes service or delivery routes
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Requirements:
  • Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
