Job Description Summary
The Weld County Sheriff's office is recruiting for a Custodial Lead Worker.
The Custodial Lead Worker works within the jail and manages trusty inmate workers doing custodial duties.
The schedule for this position is the following days and hours:
Sunday through Thursday
6:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
MUST PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK, POLYGRAPH, ERGOMED AND DRUG SCREEN.
Supervise and assist trusty inmate workers in the performance of custodial duties, to include:
Sweep, mob, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and offices
Wax and polish floors
Empty trash and garbage containers
Notify supervisor of any facility maintenance or repair needs
Maintain a stock of necessary supplies in work areas.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Description
Essential duties and responsibilities - 80%

Required Qualifications
Required Education
  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

Preferred Experience
  • Six months of janitorial/custodial experience

Skills and Abilities
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; and the ability to count, sort, and categorize inventory items.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to operate telephones, computer terminal, keyboard, photocopier, and printer/scanning instrumentation.
  • Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.

Licenses and Certifications
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid state-issued driver's license Required
  • Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.

This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
