Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

This role supports a large solvent treatment, storage, and recycling operation by safely handling materials and processing containerized waste. You will perform general labor tasks, assist with receiving and decontaminating containers, and help ensure compliant handling and documentation of waste materials in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving incoming waste materials and verify containers against documentation.
  • Process container waste in accordance with facility procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Decontaminate empty drums and containers using approved methods and equipment.
  • Prepare and create manifest forms and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Perform manual labor related to cleaning and decontamination of drums, totes, and other containers.
  • Load and unload containers such as totes, drums, tankers, and trailers in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and containers in compliance with RCRA and disposal guidelines.
  • Handle material picking, sorting, scanning, and inventory-related tasks as needed in the warehouse area.
  • Use RF scanners and other warehouse equipment to track and manage materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in an industrial outdoor warehouse environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with facility standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors using computer-based tools when required.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, production plant, transloading, oil and gas, or airport tarmac environment.

  • Experience using RF scanners or similar scanning technology for material tracking.
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to established safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including loading and unloading containers such as totes, drums, tankers, and trailers.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use email (such as Gmail) and communication tools (such as Teams) without assistance.
  • Ability to follow regulatory guidelines, including RCRA-related procedures for decontamination and disposal of containers.
  • Willingness and ability to work third shift hours after completion of the training period.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comfort working with industrial cleaning and decontamination processes for drums and containers.
  • Experience in a 24/7 operation or shift-based work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when completing manifests and other documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-focused environment and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.

Why Work Here?

The facility operates as a fully permitted treatment and storage operation that performs solvent recycling and fuels blending, offering long-term stability in an industry where waste management remains consistently in demand.
