CDL Class A Intermodal Driver - Home Daily - Hourly Pay - Hazmat Required


Drayage Xperts is hiring experienced CDL Class A Drivers for local intermodal work. Drivers will pick up containers from rail yards and deliver to customer locations throughout the Chicagoland area.


This is a hands-on position requiring prior rail yard experience, chassis knowledge, and the ability to perform minor repairs to keep equipment moving safely and efficiently.


The ideal candidate must be safety-focused, dependable, able to work in fast-paced environments, and capable of completing required company and customer training programs in English, including passing written and electronic assessments.


What You’ll Do
• Pick up and deliver containers from rail yards to local customer locations
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including chassis inspections
• Inspect, identify, and report equipment defects
• Perform minor chassis repairs, including replacing lights and adjusting brakes
• Properly secure containers to chassis in accordance with safety regulations
• Work safely and efficiently in busy rail yard environments
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and rail personnel
• Follow all DOT, FMCSA, customer, and company safety requirements
• Complete required onboarding, security, safety, and compliance training


Schedule
• Full-Time
• 5 Days Per Week plus one flex day as needed
• Local Work Only – Home Daily
• No Regional or Overnight Routes
• Start times may vary based on rail operations and customer needs

Requirements:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL Class A driving experience
• Hazmat Endorsement required
• Minimum age 21 years old
• Intermodal / rail yard experience preferred
• Experience with chassis operations and container securement required
• Ability to perform light mechanical repairs (lights, brake adjustments, etc.)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Must be able to complete required company, customer, security, and safety training in English and pass written and electronic testing requirements
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
• Must meet DOT physical qualification requirements
• Clean driving record and acceptable PSP/MVR


Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Chicago-area rail yards and terminal procedures
• Experience with ELD systems and mobile applications
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
