Job description

As the SVP of Consumer Lending, you will lead the strategy, growth, and operational performance of the credit union's consumer lending portfolio, including home equity, auto loans, other secured loans, personal loans, and credit cards. You will ensure our lending practices are competitive, compliant, and aligned with member needs and organizational goals.

This role blends strategic vision with hands‑on leadership — sharpening pricing and product strategy and building a service culture that makes borrowing with CFCU simple, fast, human, and always focused on the member.

Responsibilities
  • Drive lending strategy and growth. Develop and execute consumer lending strategies to drive loan growth and profitability, analyze market trends and competitor offerings, and serve as an active participant on the Pricing Committee.
  • Elevate lending operations. Oversee underwriting, processing, and servicing functions, ensure efficient workflows and a strong member experience, and monitor loan pipeline and funding performance.
  • Safeguard the portfolio. Maintain sound underwriting standards and credit policies, ensure compliance with NCUA, DFI, and fair lending regulations, and monitor delinquency, charge-offs, and portfolio quality.
  • Shape our product lineup. Design and improve consumer loan products, make recommendations on rates, terms, and promotions to remain competitive, and partner with Marketing on campaigns.
  • Lead and develop top talent. Lead and develop lending managers and team members, set performance expectations and KPIs, and build a strong service culture.
  • Own financial performance. Manage the lending budget and revenue targets, optimize loan yield while balancing risk, and report performance outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Champion the member experience. Ensure an efficient and transparent lending process, improve digital lending capabilities, and address member feedback and service gaps.
We are looking for a combination of:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in consumer lending, banking, or credit unions.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
  • Several years of progressive responsibility in leadership or management roles.
  • Strong background in underwriting, credit risk, and loan operations.
  • Strategic thinker with strong financial analysis skills.
  • Deep knowledge of consumer lending products.
  • Regulatory and compliance expertise.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making.
