Direct Counsel is seeking a Consumer Finance Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 3-4 years of financial regulatory experience to join a nationally recognized Financial Regulatory practice. The team advises banks, credit unions, FinTech companies, non-bank lenders, servicers, consumer reporting agencies, and technology providers on a broad range of federal and state consumer finance laws, regulatory compliance, licensing, and enforcement matters.

Responsibilities
  • Advise financial institutions and FinTech companies on compliance with federal and state consumer finance laws and regulations.

  • Counsel clients regarding the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and related consumer protection laws.

  • Conduct financial regulatory and state licensing analyses.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and consumer lending documents, contracts, and related agreements.

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance, licensing, and operational issues affecting financial products and services.

  • Assist with regulatory enforcement investigations and agency actions, as needed.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide strategic, business-focused legal solutions.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar, with the ability to obtain admission in the applicable hiring jurisdiction.

  • 3-4 years of experience in financial regulatory or consumer finance law.

  • Experience advising banks, credit unions, FinTech companies, lenders, servicers, consumer reporting agencies, or technology providers.

  • Strong knowledge of TILA, FCRA, ECOA, RESPA, and related federal and state consumer financial laws.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, licensing analyses, contract drafting, and lending documentation.

  • Experience with regulatory enforcement investigations is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, communication, and client counseling skills.

Compensation & Benefits
