Job description

Consumer Loan Officer

As an American First Associate, you’ll play a vital role in serving the community while enjoying a rewarding career. We are a $1.3 Billion financial institution located in Brea, CA looking for Consumer Loan Officer with excellent customer service skills, initiative and a desire to work in a team setting.


Position Summary

 Thi     This position is responsible for the underwriting of direct and indirect consumer loan applications, making credit decisions, and cross-selling other consumer loan products. In addition, this position will review and analyze complex loan requests to include interpreting credit profiles, assessing the ability to repay, decisioning loans and understanding member’s needs while keeping the safe and soundness of the credit union in mind. 

posi     This position will focus on consumer loan products including automobiles, personal loans, credit cards, boats, RV’s, motorcycles and other secured products.                                                                                 Accurately and efficiently communicating and working with our members and dealerships is a key to success in this position. 

 

Salary Range: $24.35-$34.00 

The salary ranges for positions are based on current market industry studies as well as job evaluations. During the offer phase Management will determine the appropriate compensation within the compensation range based on experience, education and internal equity. 


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED).
  • Minimum three year’s experience in underwriting consumer loans in an indirect and direct lending environment.
  • Working knowledge of all consumer lending products.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of consumer credit laws and regulations.
  • Ability to verify and calculate income by using paystubs.
  • Ability to read and analyze personal and business tax returns.
  • Ability to effectively communicate adverse loan decisions.
  • Excellent Member Service skills and the ability to rework deals with dealerships.
  • Competent in problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and automated lending software.


Schedule

Onsite position

Mon-Fri 9:00am-6:00pm; One Saturday (8am-5pm) a month 

Must reside in the state of CA or willing to self-relocate
