Job description

We're seeking a strategic, forward-thinking Director of Consumer Insights to lead consumer understanding across multiple brands and fuel the development of new products, categories, and business models. This leader will translate complex consumer, market, and cultural signals into actionable strategies that drive brand growth, inspire breakthrough innovation, and accelerate speed to market.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and oversee the consumer insights agenda across all brands, balancing long-term brand equity needs with short-term commercial opportunities.
  • Develop and manage qualitative and quantitative research plans, ensuring insights are robust, timely, and actionable.
  • Champion a deep, organization-wide understanding of consumer needs, behaviors, and cultural trends.
  • Partner with Product Development, Brand Marketing, and Sales teams to identify unmet consumer needs and whitespace opportunities.
  • Drive insight-led innovation pipeline creation - from idea generation to concept development to in-market launch.
  • Build research processes to shorten the innovation cycle and increase the success rate of new launches.
  • Partner with Brand Marketing teams to guide portfolio-wide positioning strategies grounded in consumer and category intelligence.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing between brand teams to uncover transferable insights and best practices.
  • Monitor cultural, technological, and market shifts to inform proactive category moves.
  • Partner with analytics teams to integrate data science, social listening, and other emerging tools into insight generation.

Job Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years in consumer insights, ideally within the consumer goods or hard goods industry.
  • Track record of translating insights into commercially successful innovation.
  • Familiarity with stage-gate or agile innovation processes.
  • Capability to identify and validate whitespace opportunities, including in new categories.
  • Ability to link consumer insights to brand positioning, marketing strategy, and commercial objectives.
  • Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience working across multiple brands and categories.
  • Strong collaboration skills with product development, marketing, and commercial teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Comfortable working on-site (5 days/week) in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
