What you'll do:
The Hardware Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of electronic products used in Eaton's circuit breaker and protection systems. The position contributes to hardware engineering projects from concept development through production launch and product lifecycle support while working closely with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and marketing teams. The role supports new product development, regulatory compliance, production issues, and customer application needs for electronic trip units and related electronic products.
Essential Functions:
  • Product Development and Design: Design and develop electronic hardware for circuit breaker electronics, protection systems, metering, communication, and control products. Design, analyze, test, and troubleshoot analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic circuits. Develop products using microcontrollers, embedded systems, communication interfaces, and sensing technologies. Utilize schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation, and laboratory test equipment to develop and validate designs.

  • Product Requirements: Develop hardware requirements, specifications, design documentation, and validation plans. Support compliance and certification activities for UL, CSA, IEC, NEMA, and other applicable standards. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, design verification, and product validation efforts.

  • Production Support: Investigate production, field, supplier, and customer issues using structured root-cause analysis methods and implement corrective actions. Coordinate activities with suppliers, contract manufacturers, test laboratories, and certification agencies. Support manufacturing transfer, industrialization activities, production test development, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.

  • Project Execution: Collaborate with firmware, systems, mechanical, quality, manufacturing, sourcing, and marketing teams throughout the product development lifecycle. Manage multiple tasks and project priorities while meeting schedule, quality, and performance objectives.

Qualifications:
