Job description


The AVP will lead a newly formed AI team consisting of a Director, Manager, and Analyst, and will serve as a strategic partner to senior leaders across product, technology, marketing, customer experience, data, security, legal, and compliance. The role is accountable for delivering scalable, secure, ethical, and value-driven AI solutions that enhance customer experiences, support brand priorities, and position the company for long term growth.
Responsibilities
  • Strategy and Enterprise Enablement
    • Define and execute the consumer AI strategy aligned with enterprise business objectives
    • Establish an AI operating model that supports prioritization, delivery, and measurable business value
    • Identify and evaluate AI opportunities across customer engagement, marketing, revenue, and operational use cases
  • AI Function Build Out and Leadership
    • Build and scale the AI function, including organizational design, role clarity, hiring strategy, and team development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing AI leadership team
    • Establish operating rhythms, performance metrics, and accountability frameworks
  • Product Roadmap and Delivery
    • Own the AI product and capability roadmap from concept through deployment and adoption
    • Oversee the development and deployment of AI-powered consumer experiences
    • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards
  • Governance, Policy, and Compliance
    • Lead development of AI governance frameworks, usage policies, and standards
    • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security, and Risk teams to ensure responsible AI practices
    • Serve as an internal advisor on AI risk management, controls, and ethical considerations
  • Cross-Functional and Cross-Brand Collaboration
    • Collaborate regularly with Product, Technology, Marketing, Customer Experience, Digital, Data, and Security leaders
    • Support multiple cruise brands and shared services functions, subject to VP review
    • Align AI initiatives with brand strategies while enabling enterprise scale and consistency
  • Communication and Executive Engagement
    • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on AI strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes
    • Translate complex AI concepts into clear, actionable business insights
    • Influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across matrixed teams
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
  • Proven experience in AI and machine learning product strategy and development
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and cross-functional teams
  • 10 or more years of experience in technology or digital product roles, including at least 5 years in AI or machine learning
  • Experience building or scaling new functions, centers of excellence, or enterprise capabilities
  • Experience delivering consumer-facing AI solutions in regulated, customer-centric environments
  • Strong understanding of AI ethics, data privacy, governance, and responsible AI practices
  • Proven track record of defining and executing product and capability roadmaps in complex organizations

This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
The Associate Vice President of AI is responsible for defining, building, and executing the company's consumer-facing AI strategy while establishing the foundational capabilities, governance, and operating model for AI across the enterprise. This role will create the AI function from the ground up, including team structure, policies, standards, and execution cadence.
