About the Team
The New Verticals team is building the future of local commerce through expanding our product offerings on our marketplace platform. We build products to enable Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail delivery through the DoorDash marketplace. The NV Consumer Analytics team guides measurement, strategy, and tactical decision-making across the NV Consumer organization through experimentation and analysis.
About the Role
We're looking for a Director of Data Science to lead a broad and high-impact scope of NV Consumer. In this role, you will shape how we measure success, guide product and operational strategy, and build the data foundations that help cross-functional teams move quickly and make better decisions. Success in this role means building a high-performing team, developing frameworks that inform prioritization across and within areas under scope, and raising the quality and speed of decision-making. You will report into a Senior Director on our NV Analytics team in our Analytics organization.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will...
  • Lead and grow a team of data science and analytics leaders and practitioners across a portfolio that spans from 0→1 products to our most high traffic Cx-facing product surfaces
  • Own the analytical direction for NV Consumer, including goal formulation, frameworks for opportunity identification, data tools for cross-functional partners, and scaled experimentation and measurement.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Strategy & Operations, Design, and Finance leaders to influence product roadmap, growth playbook, and investment decisions.
  • Build the operating system for decision-making by upleveling data foundations, democratizing data access through AI-enabled tooling, and connecting short-term measurement with long-term business outcomes.
  • Operate with broad scope and high autonomy in a startup-like environment while benefiting from the support and talent density of a scaled analytics organization
  • Drive impact at scale as a key cross-functional leader in a large and fast-growing business unit
We're excited about you because...
  • You have 10+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, or a related quantitative field, including significant experience leading senior teams and developing managers.
  • You have strong product and business analytics judgment, with a track record of defining metrics, building decision frameworks, and influencing strategy in ambiguous environments.
  • You have deep expertise in experimentation and causal inference, and you are comfortable making decisions in settings with imperfect data, evolving products, and non-obvious tradeoffs
  • You bring hands-on technical fluency in SQL and statistical analysis, and you can go deep enough to raise the technical bar for the team while operating effectively at a leadership level.
  • You have experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and business leaders, and can translate complex analysis into clear recommendations that drive action
