To succeed as the Director of Consulting, you should have:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience in higher education, governance consulting, organizational development, or a related client-facing advisory role; experience with nonprofit organizations or membership associations preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing consulting engagements, working with governing boards, senior leadership teams, and stakeholders, and delivering strategic solutions in complex organizational environments.
  • Solid business development, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills, including proposal development, pipeline management, and relationship management that drive client retention and growth.
  • Advanced communication and technical proficiency, including experience with presentations, virtual collaboration tools, and thought leadership content development; availability for limited domestic travel required.

Your responsibilities as the Director of Consulting will include:
  • Lead business development initiatives by managing client relationships, identifying new consulting opportunities, developing proposals, and driving revenue growth within higher education consulting and advisory services.
  • Design and oversee governance consulting engagements, including board workshops, leadership retreats, and strategic advisory sessions that address complex organizational and governance challenges.
  • Manage consultant engagement and delivery by coordinating subject matter experts, ensuring quality assurance, and aligning consulting outcomes with organizational standards and client expectations.
  • Develop and execute thought leadership initiatives, including webinars, publications, and presentations, to enhance brand visibility, generate leads, and support marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support strategic planning, consulting operations, and member engagement efforts while contributing to overall business objectives and service innovation.
