Milliman’s Employee Benefit Consulting Practice is looking for a consulting actuary with significant experience working with multiemployer (Taft-Hartley) pension plans to join our growing practice. In this role, you will lead client engagements and marketing efforts, enhance our reputation for exceptional customer service and effective communication, and be a key leader that will help chart the future of our multiemployer practice and mentor our next generation of leaders.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will take a leadership position in managing client relationships and overseeing project teams to ensure high-quality, technically accurate deliverables. You will represent Milliman at client meetings and industry conferences, providing expert insights and clear communication. Additionally, you will contribute to marketing initiatives, mentor junior staff, and help uphold Milliman’s reputation for exceptional customer service.

  • Lead client engagements, serving as the primary contact to key multiemployer clients and contacts.
  • Manage client teams, including overseeing production and ensuring technical accuracy of work.
  • Attend and present work products at client meetings.
  • Actively participate in and lead marketing efforts.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Speak as an expert at industry conferences.
  • Build on Milliman’s reputation for clear communication and excellent customer service.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced, client-focused consultant with deep technical knowledge of multiemployer pension plans and an Enrolled Actuary designation. The candidate must excel at communicating complex topics to diverse audiences, have a proven track record managing actuarial staff, and be comfortable traveling to client meetings and industry events. The ideal candidate will also have strong industry connections, marketing and business development skills, and experience presenting at conferences are essential, along with a passion for helping grow our business. This candidate should be in a leadership position in their current or previous role(s), which could be equal to a Principal or similar status. They should also have a proven track record at generating business.

Professional Qualifications

  • Significant experience as a client-facing consultant for multiemployer pension plans.
  • Deep technical expertise in the rules and regulations impacting multiemployer pension plans.
  • Enrolled Actuary designation.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to relate to, and work with, people of varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel to client meetings and industry events.
  • Experience managing actuarial staff.
  • Desire to actively participate in growing our business.
  • Strong industry connections and marketing skills.
  • Experience speaking at industry conferences or trade group events.

The Team

The EB Consulting practice delivers innovative actuarial and consulting solutions across a diverse range of industries, serving both active employees and retirees. Our team partners with corporate, public sector, and multiemployer clients, offering tailored expertise in the following key areas:

  • Corporate Pension Plans
  • Multiemployer Pension Plans
  • Public Pension Plans
  • Other Postretirement Benefit Plans (Corporate, Multiemployer, and Public combined)
  • Health and Group Benefits (Corporate, Multiemployer, and Public combined)
  • Compensation and Benefits Surveys

By collaborating closely with our clients, we help them navigate complex benefit challenges, optimize plan design, and ensure long-term financial security for their participants.

Location

This position is based in Chicago, IL. Candidates hired in this role must be willing to work in-person in the Milliman office on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered for our hybrid environment.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $159,275 - $314,755

A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
