Job description

Position Summary:The RN Clinic, General Surgery provides professional nursing care to patients receiving surgical consultations, pre- and post-operative services, and ongoing clinical support within an outpatient clinic setting. This role conducts patient assessments, coordinates care plans, delivers patient education, and evaluates treatment progress in close collaboration with surgeons and interdisciplinary care team members. Working as part of a supportive, specialty-focused clinic environment, the RN helps ensure care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with clinical protocols and regulatory standards. The position supports smooth clinic operations through clear communication, organized workflows, and shared accountability. Through clinical expertise, patient advocacy, and collaborative care coordination, the RN Clinic, General Surgery contributes to quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and a positive surgical care experience. Key Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and provide direct patient care in support of general surgery clinic services.Coordinate pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient education, follow-up communication, and care planning.Assist providers with clinical procedures, treatments, and examinations in accordance with established protocols.Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.Draw, process, and package laboratory specimens as required to support diagnostic and treatment plans.Collaborate with clinic staff and providers to ensure efficient patient flow, continuity of care, and positive patient experiences.

Licenses and Certifications Required:Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure. CPR is required within the orientation period. Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for the department and are required within the orientation period.Educational Requirements:RN program as evidenced by licensure. BSN preferred.Experience Requirements:One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred. Clinic experience preferred. Coding experience preferred.Special Skills or Training Requirements:May include travel to satellites. Computer use. Trinity Community Clinics - draw and package lab tests. Minot Clinics - participate in the Convenient Care weekend schedule.Physical Requirements:The RN Clinic, General Surgery frequently stands, walks, and moves throughout the clinic while providing patient care and assisting with procedures. The role requires bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or positioning of patients and clinical equipment. Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and communication abilities are necessary to assess patients, operate medical equipment, and effectively communicate with patients and care team members. Environmental Requirements:This position works primarily in an outpatient general surgery clinic environment, including exam rooms and procedure areas. The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases, blood or body fluids, sharp instruments, and cleaning or disinfecting agents, requiring adherence to infection prevention and PPE protocols. Work may include variable schedules, travel to satellite clinic locations, and participation in extended or weekend clinic services as needed.
