Project Overview:
The project is a 1.3 GW simple-cycle power generation facility located in Millersport, Ohio, being constructed adjacent to a hyperscale data center campus. The facility includes multiple power generation technologies consisting of Solar Titan 130 gas turbines, Siemens SGT800 gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, and associated balance of plant infrastructure. The scope includes major civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, underground utility, control systems, and commissioning works required to support phased energization and turnover of the facility. Construction will be executed through a combination of direct hire and subcontracted labor supported by modularization, pre-assembly, offsite warehousing, and advanced work packaging methodologies.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead, implement, and maintain global construction field welding programs and provide specialized welding engineering support. You will manage, inspect, and monitor the welding test lab, the rod room, the weld heat treatment program, and the laboratory quality plan. Your technical advice will help ensure defects, behaviors, and other issues are rectified prior to final inspection. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Support inspection activities using ITP and engineering drawings.
  • Provide specialized welding & inspection support for construction to ensure construction meets all code and Bechtel procedures including those found in the welding control manual.
  • Help manage the issue of weld filler materials for welders to meet Bechtel and Code requirements.
  • Help plan NDE activities of welding and coordinate with construction and Bechtel LFWE to support the overall construction schedule.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety.
  • Implementation of the project ES&H program and quality control program.
  • Supporting the maintenance of calibrations as required for Pre/ PWHT equipment.
  • Working knowledge of our corporate Pre/PWHT Procedure ( PHT-2 ) and other welding procedures/standards.
  • Perform inspections and documentation of all welding, NDE, and Pre/ PWHT activities in progress on a continuing basis.
  • Prepares material requisitions and maintain inventory for all Pre/PWHT equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate work activities and training of direct hire Pre/ PWHT personnel.
  • Support the crafts in meeting quality requirements in order to maintain cost and schedule.
  • Coach lower-level engineers within the welding discipline to ensure employees' and Bechtel's needs are accomplished to achieve project and Bechtel goals .
  • Maintain weld inspection tracking system using Bechtel specific automation tools.
  • Supervise a team of Welding Field Engineers and clerks.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Required bachelor's degree(or equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • NDE Certs including PT, MT, and LT (Vac Box). Knowledge of AWS, API, NFPA, AWWA, ASTM and ASNT codes, specifications, and standards.
  • Must be certifiable by written examination to Bechtel's nondestructive examination requirements as NDE Level II Visual Examination.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW.
  • Advanced knowledge of Piping Design Drawings / Specifications and TEAMWorks / WITS.
  • Intermediate understanding of Preheat/ Post weld heat treatment of equipment and consumables.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations.
  • Experience on power plants construction (preferred).
  • Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's SWPP 4MP-T81-03701 Welding Program, 03708 Pre/ Post Weld Heat Treatment and 03705 Welding & NDE Documentation.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, WITs, TEAMWorks, Arc Stryker, PipeFighter, and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
